Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised I haven't seen a mashup regarding the two major Superhero Versus movies both ignoring the One-Steve Limit yet.
- Captain America: ...James....
- Iron Man: Why did you say James?! WHY'D YOU SAY THAT NAME?!?!?!
WHAT DOES HALF YOUR YOUR COMMANDOS HAVE TO DO WITH IT?

Non Indicative UsernameWhen I heard about the Martha moment, I was convinced that someone made it up.
It sounded too ludicrous to be a real plot point in a real movie that really came out.
Then again, that's what I said about everything my brother told me about the plot to Terminator Genisys
Forever liveblogging the Avengers@Tobias, I saw a picture of that exact mashup somewhere months ago but I don't know how to find it now!
This isn't the version I was talking about buuuuuuuuuut same idea

While I don't want the X-men in the MCU, I won't mind Marvel getting the rights back at all (if for no other reason that the whole rights thing is just a big headache). And if they get them back, I want them to do a "how would human history happen if the X-men had been around" stick, creating a Mutant universe which exists parallel to the MCU (for example, if there had been the X-men, it is unlikely that there would have ever been Super Soldier Serum experiments).
And in order to make the fans happy, they can do a Cross universe event next.
(I thought that the Martha moment or the jar of piss would be the most jaw dropping moment, but what really did me in was the overall editing).

For those curious
, the tentacle monster from the Doctor Strange set definitely isn't Shuma-Gorath. It's just some generic toy called "The Portal Beast".

"I thought that the Martha moment or the jar of piss would be the most jaw dropping moment, but what really did me in was the overall editing " Mostly because those two have sense in context(sort off), the editing was terrible yeah
Also isnt a shame we dont have a Bucky vs Rhode, for some reason the idea of "James, stop hitting James!" sound funny to me
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"If the movies go anything like the comics, the other characters might refer to Bucky with James since they're not on Nickname Basis with him. Though he's different enough that he might not care.
Rhodey seems like the formal type so they'll probably stick to calling him Rhodes instead. I imagine Carol will also probably be referred to as Cpt./Lt./whatever Danvers when they get around to her.
From what I understand she never really was a colonel in the Air Force, she was given that rank at the same time she transferred to NASA. So it wouldn't be much of an adaptational demotion, especially if she is still in the Air Force.
Overall though, I don't think it's necessary to establish a clear link between her superhero alias and her military rank, or to avoid an adaptional demotion if they do.

What's more funny is how bizarrely relevant that is this year. Civil War has two important characters named James and two Pro-Accords officials named Ross, the latter of which makes discussion of the Accords management confusing.
Meanwhile, Batman v. Superman's resolution revolves around the fact that both title characters have a mother named Martha.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
