Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Adrian is interesting because he doesn't really want to fight superheroes. He would gather money for his retirement though that never means he won't back down from someone who challenges him. He has quit the ego, bitter and power hungry after a long repressed life others took for granted. Oh no Adrian doesn't let people like Spiderman degrade him or other villains use the alias Vulutre for their own glory.
He is a good choice, being stuck between the mundane and over top but neither passes both. Most of his crimes are to avenge himself from some wrong, or to steal money. He isn't a megalomaniac bent on killing people (Lubensky) left and right because of insert ridicules reason nor is he knocking over kid's ice cream stands.
Just avoid the narmy dialogue and we are good.
Overall, Vulture is the old guy society ignores and treats like trash until he snaps. Except he doesn't go around blowing up buildings; he recognizes when he goes too far and will stop.

I thought they said early on that there wouldn't be a love interest in the movie because they wanted to focus on literally anything other than Peter's love life.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't care! I just hope that they play it right this time around, introducing important characters early on and building them up in the background.
I also hope that they have realized that not every villain needs to have a personal connection to spider-man. The whole point of Spider-man is that he will act if he sees a problem, the main struggle should not between him and the villain, but between him having to balance being Spider-man with his normal life.
As long as they don't waste Michael Keaton on yet another throwaway Marvel villain (looking at you Mickey Rourke, Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce, Sam Rockwell, Chris Eccleston, Corey Stoll, etc), then I don't really care if Vulture has a personal connection to Peter or not. As long as he's a fun and interesting villain regardless.
" I feel like if they can't find a way to make a villain relatable"
where have you been in the past decade lol. 90% of supervillians in mainstream comics are far from relatable. thats like asking for Frieza to be down to earth lol. almost all times they're going to go bat shit insane more than anything else. your typical Marvel/DC comic isnt treating the supervillain as amazing as the title hero. well it is but through their insanity; how crazy and tough they get and how much trouble they offer is all that pretty much matters. otherwise symbolism and lore make up the lack of everything else. we are lucky if they have a personality worth noting. now for the few who do thats where Marvel Studios must pick from (Loki) or just fill it (Justin Hammer)
