Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm more willing to give Ant-Man a break than Dr. Strange. AOU didn't leave me hanging or longing for a conclusion to the characters' arcs in the way Civil War did, so Ant-Man felt like a good Breather Episode compared to Dr. Strange which is more like being Trapped by Mountain Lions.
I had that same thought. CW not resolving the story really, and leaving the team shattered/scattered, and setting up this very different status quo, makes it perfectly natural that many (including me) would want to see follow-ups that explore the fallout. Black Widow being on the run after turning on Tony and exploring where she goes from here (and yet again teasing more of her mysterious past), Black Panther hiding Bucky and Wakanda and how that might affect things, how does Scott getting involved with CW effect his dynamic with the Pym's, his daughter, his ex-wife, etc, Where does Tony go from here, where are Cap's team now (are they all in Wakanda or did they scatter), and so on and so forth.
All potentially cool/interesting stuff.

IDK how anyone could make such an argument with a straight face. What, because no one died, so what? Characters don't have to die in order for their to be "consequences." If there no consequences, then the team would be all back together good as new at the end of the movie, which they're not.
Not to mention that Rhodey is crippled now (at least temporarily).

It won't ever be the same again nevertheless.
You can't just "fix" stuff like this. Rhodey's injury is permanent, even if the legs Tony built him will give him more movement than he would have otherwise. Scott will miss out even more from the childhood of his daughter. Tony and Steve will never forget this fight and how close they came killing each other.

It was a teaser which created a lot of buzz at exactly the right moment. Now that the "big" Superhero movies have gotten their due, Marvel will start to market the movie again, just in time for comic con. I would say that we get a full trailer around this time, and another, smaller one after Suicide Squad.
Also Bucky isn't getting a new arm any time soon, so that at least is permanent.
Woody Harrelson and Mark Ruffalo almost getting in a bar fight in New Orleans, that story needs to be told.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI don't think this was posted already, but in other Strange news people seem to be flipping out about about a recent LEGO set
that supposedly reveals the movie's villain as Shuma-Gorath.
I say supposedly because, while people are getting very excited about this, it's worth noting that the thing in question doesn't look anything like Shuma and there's no official word on what its supposed to be. As much as I love Shuma and half-expect him to be vaguely involved somehow anyway (in particular, I'd like an "involved indirectly with Strange's beginning, but only hinted at until the final film of the series" affect), especially since he's responsible for the death / ascendance / it's complicated of the Ancient One, the set doesn't really feel indicative of him definitely being in it. Let alone being the main villain.
Then again, if it really is Shuma, then they really could be doing "what Green Lantern should have been like" with is villains, as we've been joking about.

That got posted a while ago, and I'm thinking it's just some random Shoggoth or One-Winged Angel summon.

It might be a good thing that the next movie is not a direct continuation to Civil War. Gives everyone a little bit time to cool off.
