Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That's how I see it too. A mix of the actresses' wishes but also says something about the way their characters are utilized in the plot. In contrast, any romance between two heroes whoever they would be would probably last longer, because so far most of the love interests have been fairly disposable to the MCU at large, outside of Peggy who got a life of her own as head of SHIELD.
Probably, since the Russos implied Cap was basically the main protagonist of Infinity War. Though the Taking A Stand leitmotif is probably my favorite in the whole MCU, so I'd like to see Jackman and Taylor contribute a little.

It's more like whether or not the writers can squeeze out an action scene with the LI that determined their disposability and their romance outcome. Hulk/Widow is an exception because no one like that ship, comic and casual fans. Atleast Steve/Sharon received support from comic fans.

yeah, but it's still just... weird.
Or rather it's weird that he doesn't think it's weird.
'Well that girl I was carrying a torch for just died. Oh the girl I've formed a pseudo romance with is her blood relative? This in no way impacts the emotional trajectory we were on.'

Again, I don't think so. Portman was having issues with Marvel way back in Thor 2, and like I said recently, Paltrow was talking about how she felt she was getting too old for these movies way back when Age of Ultron was beginning production. Had Paltrow wanted to I'm sure they could have given her a cameo in Civil War.

That's because nobody remembers Sharon. She was in WS for like 5 minutes. Peggy meanwhile was a major character who was then spun off into a TV show and a bunch of other film appearances. There's a reason people latched onto her and not Sharon.
Even if Cap might've had a thing for Sharon beforehand (and due to the circumstances of their previous interactions, it's hard to say) she was so dispensable to the film that most people outside of the ones who were already predisposed to Steve/Sharon to begin with forget who she even was.
And while I don't blame the writers entirely because CW was so stuffed as it is, introducing Sharon in her very first scene in this film as Peggy's niece is a very poor narrative decision. That combined with the way the entire relationship was timed and framed makes it hard not to see Sharon as a pseudo-incestuous Replacement Goldfish of some sort, that he only committed to going after because he found out she was related to Peggy, which is really creepy. As an Intended Audience Reaction it would be interesting since this movie is supposed to showcase Steve's darker side, but I highly doubt that's the case.
I'm flexible enough to accept Cap/Sharon even though it's not one of my preferred pairings as long as it's executed right, which, it... wasn't.

For me the worste relation ship would be ether hope/scott by virtue of not chemestry and how paifully generic Scott is or Thor and Jane by virtue of Thor being ken with hammer, Bruce and Natasha could work with better writing at best
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I still believe that Hope and Scott made out specifically to mess with Hank.
They may be physically attracted to each other but primary motivation is to mess with the old man.

Wrong order. Peggy's death happens towards the beginning of the film. After the funeral they go to Berlin/Vienna (I forget which), Cap talks to her about Peggy near the elevator and then leans in for an interrupted kiss, then the terrorist attack happens and Sharon helps him find Bucky.

I mean, off the top of my head the only interaction I remember them having was Widow turning on BP and Tasing him to let Cap get away.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.(...and later on having the gall to get snippy at Tony when he calls her out on it, but that's a rant for another day)
