Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ah, yes, that's the guy. Hyperion. It'd be a nice change to have an antagonist that's not necessarily villainous, only a Well Intentioned Extremist. Like Injustice Superman, only more interesting and whose motivations aren't as petty and nonsensical. Of course, we have to get someone who can actually write such a guy, because these kind of characters tend to be either hammy as shit and unbelievable or totally bland.
The Sentry could work too, though he has been consistently heroic, unlike Hyperion, who seems to miss the point of being a superhero. Constantly.

Not so much Superman, but Marvel has been pushing her heavily as their Wonder Woman recently, but that's more in role. The more direct Wonder Woman Expy is an obscure heroine named Warrior Woman.
Ms. Marvel is a shoe-in. She and Miles are the most successful new characters Marvel has had in years, and they're already beginning to put her in cartoons and video games. I would be very shocked if Phase 4 doesn't have either a Ms. Marvel movie, or a supporting role in a Captain Marvel sequel.
She, Nova, and the Runaways are some of the few remaining properties Marvel has that are fairly primed for movies.

When you talk about Hyperion, you've always got to be mindful of which one. Mostly they do end up antagonistic (because being expies of the competition's biggest/second biggest character is always likely to end up with said expy being beaten up) but you have the well meaning but misguided anti-heroic Hyperions (yeah, more than one of them) and then outright villainous ones like 'King' Hyperion. And then there's the Hyperion Hickman introduced who was at least at first a genuine hero (I didn't follow that all the way through so no idea what happened to him in the end.)
In all versions he's probably the most blatant of all the many Superman expies at Marvel and in my opinion kind of makes the Sentry pretty redundant as power-wise they are very similar (before Sentry ended up with Molecule Man's shtick as well/instead) and did the hero or villain thing first... and frankly, better.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Isn't Blue Marvel one of the better Superman expies?
In that he has a lot more than that going on?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHe definitely seems to go more for the Science Hero route, at least more than Superman does nowadays (I think maybe he didn't some Kryptonian stuff back in the Silver Age or something?).
There's also how 1960's racism affects his backstory.
And he has kids.

Yeah, I mostly mean the misguided Hyperion, though he could go downright villainous and either be killed off, imprisoned or make a Heel-Face Turn.
Maybe he could work as a recurring antagonist for Captain Marvel, a la Loki, with some other villain as the main threat.

"TMNT"s Shredder Actors Says Namor Is His Dream Role.
I could definitely see Brian Tee as Namor, although I do like Daniel Dae Kim, too.
While we wait for Doctor Strange, has anyone seen the 2007 animated adaptation
?
Back to the idea of TOAA in the MCU, it'd be cool if he served as the basis of every supreme being in every religion. Hell, we could get an exchange like this:
- Tony Stark: Every religion has its own God. Islam has Allah, Hindus have Vishnu, and of course Christians have God. So which God are you?
The One-Above-All: Which God am I? All of them.
I'm pretty sure many people would see that as blasphemous, though.
I mean, technically, Vishnu exists
in the Marvel universe anyway.
Can we get these two panels
adapted into Spider-Man: Homecoming?

I would love to see a Moon Knight Netflix series though it might be hard to have the 'voices in his head' shtick play out in live action without seeming a bit silly. Hercules would be fun too, it would be cool to have him interact with Thor.
