Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Looking at her IMDB page
, she's been getting reasonably steady work. Not a whole lot I recognize or have seen, but she's definitely still in the business.
I don't really have strong opinions on who should play Janet van Dyme and given the character's rather ambiguous state we don't know what the story is going to demand for the role. However if Michael Douglas is cool with it, then I would definitely be cool with it as well.

I did not know they were married....
....Now would be a good time to mention that 95%+ of what I say about actors and actresses on this forum are things I looked up on IMDB 30 seconds before posting (for instance on the last page I had no idea how old Evangeline Lilly was when I started typing my big post). It's not really a topic I pay much attention to when I'm not actively discussing it.

x 6. Yes. Made a Namor Dark Comedy film to compete with Aquaman.

The only thing I know about Namor is that he's a speedo-wearing Aquaman who isn't as badass, more of a jerk, sleeps with anything that breathes, and is prone to throwing tantrums like it's going out of style.
Is that accurate or is there more to him?

This song needs more love. Now the question is, who can pull off that speedo without looking like an idiot?
I'm seeing some people suggest Daniel Dae Kim.
◊ And yes, #AANamor is already a thing.

"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."I'd say Namor is just as badass as Aquaman, considering he goes toe-to-toe with The Hulk on multiple occasions, although he's dropped the speedo.
He can also fly.
He's also apparently the first Mutant?
My various fanfics.I haven't read that many comics centered around him but he's fun, silly design and all. His extreme arrogance makes him pretty entertaining.

I was actually thinking that if they racebent Namor Asian would make sense, considering how huge the Pacific is and how his appearance can be interpreted as stereotypically east Asian for better or for worse (when he doesn't look like Spock). Although since it's called Atlantis it would probably make more sense for him to be someone of Mediterranean origin. maybe Persian, Italian, or Greek.

"Replace "casting controversy" with "pointless pissing contests over the quality of Batman v. Superman", and you know how I feel about the DC movie thread."
Well, we can go back to debate if Clark REALLY save people in men of steel, that debate always cheer people up
" god damn, is the Vision still the best part of the movie."
Yeah, the movie tend to feel VERY fast for some but when vision is there it slow down and take a breath, his conversation with Ultron is pretty damn good and pretty much the best part of the movie
"Part of the praise given to Jason Momoa's casting as Aquaman is how sensible it feels to have a Hawaiian dominate the seas. Marvel, if cognizant enough, could easily ape that. "
in my case I could never take Arthut blone, blue eyes seriously not matter what they try, this just feel.....right
" since it's called Atlantis it would probably make more sense for him to be someone of Mediterranean origin. maybe Persian, Italian, or Greek."
greek will be good, that would be intersting
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I think I'd be down for anyone playing Namor, really The ocean is very big, after all.
In any case, I have another topic to offer - who should be the villain for Captain Marvel?
Moonstone would be good if we are indeed going in the Masters of Evil/Thunderbolts direction, although I'm wondering if that might veer into what some might say is the MCU's overreliance on the Evil Counterpart. It'd probably help if you cast an actress with a different hair color.
Oh God! Natural light!Though the two never became enemies until the whole Dark Avengers thing.
As far as I know, before that, they'd never crossed paths.
One Strip! One Strip!

I mean, I have to applaud this thread for being so civil when we disagree about a lot of different things to do with the movies (hell, I always love the debates on Age of Ultron because I love seeing all the different opinions on it, even if they're ones I might not agree with), but sometimes it can get in the way when me or someone else want to discuss something different, ya know?
Yeah, the Civil War debate is getting annoying for me too. Iron Man 3 on the other hand varies for me. Like, I loved the little discussion about if Maya Hansen were the villain, and I like Tobias Drake's analysis of Killian.
