Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Just general stuff like people putting rumors or plot theories as given facts. Like one related to an easter egg in GOTG which someone apparently felt was proof to definitively state Wonder Man is in the movie and joins the team, or literally anything to do with Infinity War.

Yup.

Jennifer Kent
, the director of The Babadook, is said to be one of the candidates to direct.
Seems plausible enough and Variety isn't the worst source. But at this point I've seen so many reports "revealing" who is playing Captain Marvel is that I'm not going to believe it 100% until Marvel announces it.
Now assuming this is accurate, then I think it's also reasonably safe to assume that we aren't going to have to wait for her solo film for the character to be introduced into the MCU. There's no real point in casting the character before a director is signed on unless she's going to appear in an earlier movie.
And given her backstory in the USAF and NASA, it's very easy for her to organically fit into the narrative of any Earthbound movie. I've often toyed around with the idea that she gets wrapped up in the events of Infinity War: Part 1 (thus setting her on the path to becoming Captain Marvel) simply because they need a kickass pilot.

Klaw, even without the whole "made out sound" thing, generally has pretty effective sonic weaponry that he could use (though on the other hand MCU Klaue doesn't seem the kind of guy to invent something extravagant and flashy, let alone use it over far more practical bullets).

Nope. Variety is an actual, reputable source, and The Hollywood Reporter (another one) is reporting the same thing as well.
I don't think Blunt is a bad choice by any means but I don't know why a lot of media sites built her up as though she were the choice.

I only know her as Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim, which probably isn't the best role to judge her from because everything in that movie is deliberately trippy.
But I'm liking the sound of the words, "won an Oscar."
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Comics are weird.
