Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm also on the side of Got G being a perfectly fine movie that didn't move me emotionally at all except for a couple of scenes. I also found both Starlord and Gamorra pretty bland, which was a pity, since their comrades were very entertaining (as were Yondu and Nebula. Even Ronan had his moments if you're into that sort of pomposity.). One thing that did irk me was the music, which I simply hated. I mean, I totally get why it was as it was, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Ok, I haven't ranked the movies. Here goes:
- 1.- Civil War
- 2.- Age of Ultron
- 3.- Winter Soldier
- 4.- Avengers
- 5.- Iron Man 3
- 6.- Ant-Man
- 7.- Guardians of the Galaxy
- 8.- Iron Man
- 9.- The Dark World
- 10.- The First Avenger
- 11.- Iron Man 2
- 12.- Thor
- 13.- The Incredible Hulk
I don't think any of these movies is bad. 1 through 4 are amazing, 5 through 10 are good, and the last three are goodish, with issues, with the Hulk movie being largely skippable.

Apparently Ayesha, ak la She,, is the villain of GOG 2, which I believe based on the cocoon. James Gunn said it's not Adam Warlocks, so...
Meanwhile, I was correct with Hulk busting it out in Grandmaster's arena. As an Elder, his obsession is associated with receiving amusement through "games", which works for the plot line of a free roaming and somewhat angered Hulk.
For those who do not know, the Elders of the Universe are not all the same species. They come from a variety of now extinct elder races, and owe their immortality to their individual, singular obsessions.
That's the comics continuity, anyway. The MCU hasn't derived away from this "obsession"either. Therefore, he fits in nicely beside Taneleer. Hulk is indeed a toy any control freak would appreciate. En Dwl would love to have Hulk entertain him.

The problem with the "we make our own demons" is that Tony being sort of dickish to Killian is bad, but Killian systematically deciding to become a supervillain and annihilate everything Tony ever built is such a massive Disproportionate Retribution that the meaning is entirely lost.
One WMG in this very site actually had a far more interesting idea, to have The Mandarin (this WMG being done before the movie was released) be a vicitm of war waged with Stark Industries weapons. That way there's a much stronger link between Tony's actual sins in the past and the villain in the present.

The Grandmaster is actually Woolie out to reclaim his childhood after his friends destroyed his Hulk doll.
After ranking the movie, how do you rank the theme songs? Mine is:
1. Taking a Stand
2. Captain America March
3. Avengers Theme
4. Driving With the Top Down
5. Agent Carter theme
6. Agents of SHIELD theme
7. Cap's Promise
8. Ant-Man Theme
9. Age of Ultron Theme

The thing is, while Tony spurning him set him on his path, the whole Extremis and Mandarin thing was just his own twisted ambitions and greed, not revenge. Getting to humiliate Tony and take his girl was just the maraschino cherry on top of an evil ice cream sundae he was already content with.

That's comic book Whiplash and falls under MCU's Zemo/Twins. He can't be another vengeance seeker. Vengeance wasn't Killian's goal as both he and
stated. It was a convenience.
I would just like to see what another director does with Mandarin, a conspiracy gone true. What is his motivation and shit... well someone else needs to fill in those blanks much like Russo's are gonna do with Thanos. The character is here. He's always been here, originally planned for IM 1. It's a matter of finding the right talent who cares to do something with him lol

I would have loved it if Trevor had escaped capture... and then discovered that only the now-dead guys in AIM had ever known the truth. Does he take command and keep the good times rolling, or try calling the Avengers for help before his subordinates mutiny?
There's a Freeze-Frame Bonus in the WHGH news video on Youtube that Trevor is now in contract to make a new bio about his exp. So he's doing pretty well for himself.

Well if they try out the Masters of Evil, they have Zemo, Hammer, Abomination, and Loki as the living villains so far (of course, Loki would more than likely not be in it due to Ragnarok). If they do create the Masters of Evil in the MCU, they probably will let some of the future villains live so that they can use them.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? The downside is, coming up they don't have a lot of opportunities to introduce villains likely to be in the Masters. Imo what they should've been doing is letting dragons or significant minions live - like, say, if Savin made it out of Iron Man 3.
It might be an interesting idea to have legacy villains or something along those lines. Like, if they used the Whiplash-Bot concept from Iron Man Armored Adventures (at least, I think he was a robot. He might've been a cyborg). Though IIRC, comics Whiplash was in Agents of SHIELD (albeit as little more than an Elite Mook for HYDRA) and didn't die, so they also have an in there as well.

Well, the Spider-Man franchise is now in the MCU and I'm praying that they won't kill off Micheal Keaton in his first appearance.
So, all this talk made me realize that Wanda need her own movie. A movie that has some scenes detailing her horrific origins, her reaction to the event of Civil War and Age of Ultron , allegory for the current refugee crisis while mastering her power and stopping the villain of the movie along with some smexy time with Vision. This film is just writing itself.

Alternately after they were told they couldn't make Maya a villain they should've left her alive at the end. That way her bus could come back to menace Iron Man in the future if they wished.

Elizabeth Debicki's character is reportedly the villain of Guardians 2.
