Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

So, we're caught. Hm, I wonder who this mysterious newcomer is, with his ripped body, skin-tight black bodysuit and sexy sharp fingernails... er, um, I mean, beer and sports! Har har. War is hell.
...I ship it.
That's amazing! To think, of all the various New York heroes you could have reached out to, you chose the dorky awkward teenager you saw on You Tube!
ROBERT DOWNEY JR.
C'mon, like there's any proper adult superheroes in New York? Ha! Certainly none ever mentioned in major newspapers, or with a publicly known detective agency! Ha ha!

When we're done, there won't be anything left.I know I'm examining the joke too much, but as far as anyone knows Daredevil is just an unpowered vigilante (and powers aside, he regularly gets beaten half to death by ordinary mooks), Jessica isn't very high up the power scale and isn't very good about collateral damage, and Luke Cage isn't well-known yet. Well, neither is Jessica, but Cage is even less so. Peter was the perfect one to grab because he's a hero who can survive a truck to the face and he has abilities well-suited to taking someone out non-lethally.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.Yeah, I'm pretty sure even rookie-ass baby Peter Parker could have wiped out Daredevil and Jessica by himself before tangling with Luke Cage.
My various fanfics.Jessica Jones confuses me, power-set-wise. She's clearly supposed to be Unskilled, but Strong, but for some reason doesn't seem strong enough despite having super-strength. It's weird.
I think she generally is, but she is not always in the best condition, like during her fight with Simpson.

Somehow I'm envisioning that ending in Tony trying to hit on and/or grope her and getting his arm broken for his trouble. Two drunk people with poor impulse control, one of whom is a notorious womanizer and the other of whom is a sexual assault survivor, is not going to end well.

One thing I've noticed is that she seems to have a really hard time against multiple opponents. Several times she punches Guy A only for Guy B to get her behind the back, and one time it knocked her right out.
I get that she doesn't have the reflexes or the durability, but it's jarring seeing Daredevil dance around a dozen armed thugs while she can get just barely handle three or four.
The entire reason Tony went after Spider-Man is because he felt his squad didn't necessarily have enough manpower to subdue Team Cap. Daredevil brings nothing to the table that Black Panther and Black Widow don't already possess (Widow even has the batons!), and Luke and Jessica just want to be left the hell alone. They'd never side with Stark, especially when Luke is already a fugitive.
Also Spider-Man has the ability to non-lethally restrain people from a distance, which is something that was implied Tony was very interested in. He even tells Spider-Man to hang back and just use his webs instead of actually fighting.

Tony and Jessica actually have a lot in common
They should never meet. Ever.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSome rumors about the plot of Ragnarok

So far it's all rumor. And I'm not so certain they would really adapt Planet Hulk in that way because:
1. If Thor is taking the place of Beta Ray Bill / the Silver Surfer, well, neither of them played a big role in the storyline besides "Hulk's last opponent who frees him from the ring".
2. Adapting Planet Hulk in such a way distracts from the latter half where Hulk leads the resistance against the Red King. That's where his character development really happens. Thor arriving and meeting Hulk would cause that to be overshadowed by his own plot over at Asgard.

My MCU OTP is Nelson and Murdock.
