Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don't think Ant-Man & The Wasp will be heavily connected to Infinity War.
Just as I've gotten myself hyped as fuck for Infinity War, I've now, over a year later, become somewhat upset that Quicksilver's dead. I don't even necessarily care about Quicksilver himself so much as I can't think of any other Marvel speedsters except the Whizzer, and that makes me cry.

Super-speed is a notorious Story-Breaker Power but hopefully they could have found a way to make him work. He did seem to be slower than his comic counterpart.

Marvel seems pretty adamant he's dead. I mean, Lying Creator could be in effect, but every time the possibility is brought up, Feige shoots it down and says he doesn't want it to turn into another Coulson case.

My various fanfics.Man, I really hope that the MCU avoids the ancient comic-book pitfall of death becoming utterly meaningless. I mean, whenever I hear the latest news about whatever major superhero is totally dead for good this time, no seriously for real this time, my first thought is always "wonder when they'll be back."
I mean, they've already brought back Coulson, which was a pretty big mistake in my opinion. If it escalates to comic-book levels, it'll suck the tension out of things in a serious way.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."I'd say recently MARVEL has gotten ahold of making death meaningful again; narratives now focuses on how death effects the characters loved ones. Even in universe people know that ressurections are a matter of time and networking, but they still are miserable over not being able to see their loved one again for an unknown number of years.

I'd like if Infinity War has a moment where all the dead characters ride again in one last moment of glory, briefly resurrected to act as The Cavalry.
Now, who that'd actually be is difficult. Quicksilver, Peggy and..... (...)

Everybody's always talking about it - I suppose I really should give it another shot sometime.
At least it isn't required viewing if I want to understand other events in the MCU, do to how loosely it apparently ties into the rest of the universe. Which is convenient for me, but I understand it to be something of a point of contention for the show's fans.

Between Infinity War 1 and Captain Marvel. Scott sure gets sandwiched by heavy hitters again.
