Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The Avengers and X-Men did team up to fight Exodus and he got his powers from Apocalypse.
That was just a weird situation though.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTri-Sentinel. It was during this crossover where Loki teamed up with Doctor Doom, Magneto, Red Skull, the Wizard, the Mandarin, and Kingpin called Acts of Vengeance. By the end of it, Doom and Magneto fucked off because they didn't want to deal with Red Skull (for obvious reasons), and Loki flipped his gourd by fusing some of Sebastian Shaw's Sentinels into the Tri-Sentinel.

The Wizard is, like, the most conspicuously low level person i nthat group. As soon as I saw his name I immediately thought "What is this loser doing in that line up of top tier Marvel villains?" Wizard is just a guy who uses technology to pretend he's doing magic tricks, he's like a smarter but less flashy Mysterio.

I find it difficult to be overly concerned by preserving the sanctity of "this neat, orderly universe" when the films adamantly refuse to even acknowledge the TV show as something that exists.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's not exactly SHIELD's business to stop a fatman from gentrifying a section of New York or Ninjas. They fight spies, they stop supernatural stuff from getting out of hand but they're only one organization, they can't keep track of every single thing. I can totally buy the events of DD and JJ flying under their radar.
I do agree about the movies completely ignoring what goes on in Agents of SHIELD, that's stretching things significantly.

The Blog The ArtYeah, this is basically the same complaint as, "Why didn't the Avengers all dogpile on top of Killian?" or "Why didn't the Avengers all dogpile on top of Pearce?"
The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. are not an eager guild of teleporting murderhobos looking for a quest. A lot of things are happening in the world all the time. Just because the narrative is opting to show us Kilgrave today doesn't mean all other crime in the world has ceased so that he can get his plot on.

Eh, fair enough. I guess I kinda want a bit more overlap, but that's just me.
