Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

True, but Buchanan's strategy of "just wait it out" was not only the stupidest thing to do given that situation, but there could've been a way for him to end the conflict before it began.
Also, it just feels surreal that we're talking about US history in this thread.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Iron Man 3 almost had a female villain
, but Marvel cut her because they were worried about toy sales.

Stephanie Szostak played Ellen Brandt, aka the Extremis soldier who Tony duels and kills. Rebecca Hall played Maya Hansen, aka the creator of Extremis who Tony meets in the prologue and Killian kills.
My guess, still named Aldrich Killian but with Maya's backstory and arc. Note that Shane calls her "female Killian", not "main villain Maya".

I'm dying of laughter. This is most likely true for any movie with a lot of CGI.
Honestly, come to think of it, I would've liked to have seen both Maya and Killian as villains, but with Maya the head villain so to speak. Like, Killian only thinks he's in charge, when in fact Maya was the one in charge.
But, of course, Perlmutter fucked it up.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Depending on how they handled it I think it would have been, and would have also been more interesting.
We've had some female villains but none of them as the Big Bad of an MCU film, unless I'm just forgetting someone.
My hate of the "no you move" speech is well known, so seeing it in Civil War—even truncated to remove the gross "lack of compromise is what democracy is all about" bullshit—was the low point of the movie for me.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I could've done without it, but I at least appreciate that it was made more ambiguous, as Cap's stubbornness leads to the feud at the climax. And that its context is changed by Peggy having been the one to say it, and her career has been full of having to stand her ground amidst more open hostility.

James Buchanan gets a lot of blame, but with slavery it was obvious the south wasn't going just give up what they considered their property ,ergo, the civil would have happened anyway.James Buchanan or not
