Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Oh, that's the original source? Yeah...okay, this might not be true, even though it would make sense....
Regardless of whether or not that specific anecdote was true, more reputable sources like The Hollywood Reporter and The Financial Times
have reported on his behavior in the past.
And according to the FT, when Marvel replaced Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2 to save money, Perlmutter was alleged to have told colleagues that no one would notice because both actors are black.
Also in the Sony leaks emails from him about how female superhero movies won't work
were found.

So my dad has watched Civil War.
He asked me if I want to watch it again with him.
And I tell you, going to watch a movie again is a highest form of praise he expresses towards a movie. The last time he did was with Frozen, Avatar, and amusingly enough, The Dark Knight.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.I'd say Civil War has themes that are simpler to get. Near the end, you know exactly what it's all about, so maybe that's why he likes it more.
And agreed. It's pretty cool he wants to watch it again.
One Strip! One Strip! My dad initially didn't want to watch Civil War, because of how much he hated Dawn of Justice, which he called "A cinematic disgrace to both Superman and Batman." Although he never outright stated, he is a big DC fan, like how often he brings up the fact that he watched the first Superman movie in theatre.
He just told me how when he walked out of threatre from Civil War, one one hand he was genuinely awed at the movie. On the other hand, he felt a bit bitter, because of how Dawn of Justice could and should have been just as great.
I do partly agree with his sentiments.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.I symphathize with your dad.
Cue "You were the chosen one!"

Hah.
In fact, the first Superman movie could have been my very first movie. He was about to show it to me, but apparently I messed up the VHS tape. So instead my first movie became Jurassic Park, which I watched so many times eventually the VHS tape broke.
Thank God it wasn't 90s Captain America movie.
But that's enough of the off topic.
I wonder how Thanos will handle his invasion.Would it involve brute forcing or mixture of guile?
