Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There was talk of a Hulk film again after Mark Ruffalo was very well received in The Avengers, but I doubt now they'll attempt it. But at least it means Guardians of the Galaxy got room to debut.
On the topic of Nat-Banner, one could argue it is a consequence of what happens from leaving the roster be just one woman on the team. Since the "lullaby" thing comes from a longstanding trope of "Hulk calms down around pretty woman" so Nat was made to fill the slot.

See, I don't think Age of Ultron had that dark of a tone, specifically because everyone was joking. There was no tension because no one took Ultron's supposed "Threat" seriously. There were no stakes, so upon realizing that he'd written himself into a corner, Whedon artificially raised the stakes with a needless death.
My various fanfics.I didn't hate the snark, but I'm not sure why Whedon felt the need to make Ultron that kind of villain.
Oh God! Natural light!Despite being in a darker movie, Foxsilver is even more fun personified than MCUsilver.

Non Indicative UsernameTo be honest, Comics!Ultron can be too Generic Doomsday Villain at times. It's like he takes himself so seriously, so self-importantly, but lacking Doom's actual grandiosity, so he comes off as just a self-stuck braggart constantly ballyhooing his own ROBOT SUPERIORITY... to the point giving him some snark at least made him less Token Bad to me.
" so upon realizing that he'd written himself into a corner, Whedon artificially raised the stakes with a needless death."
No even that because Utron was already beaten in the the awfull "in retrospective" so quicksilver death feel shorehorn into the whole thing because he need a death.
The biggest falling is not Ultron being snarky, is him not being threating.
Ultron is getting a new body? the avenger stolen and make a new hero!
There are people in the island the avenger cant save(even when steve said he would save them for some stupid reason)? papa nick come with a helicarrier from.....hell know where.
Ultron unleash horde and horde of droid? they are as good as Star wars droid
Ultron itself? last like 2 moment and them is defeat in a awfull fashion, them they return to their bases and gather a new team with a trimpuh show in the distance.....
Yeah
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Oh, we're talking about Age of Ultron here?
Because let me just say, I really liked the idea of Tony creating Ultron instead of Hank - it just makes a lot more sense to me that the robotics genius would create a killer robot then the guy who developed a shrinking potion and a device to control ants.
They changed it from Pym to Stark to keep Pym from being an unbelievable Omnidisciplinary Scientist. ...But then they both became one anyway.
I got bored/annoyed with Ultron's snark. And almost all of it in that movie, really. It was like no one was taking anything seriously.

I figured it was similar to the reason why Spidey makes jokes. Its a way to cope with being in dangerous situations.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
Agreed. I mean, sometimes you just gotta crack jokes when things are going crazy, because otherwise you realize your fighting killer robots on a flying island with a bow.
Also, it could be a sign of how badass they are that they can talk so casually while in the middle of a battle. Like that one scene in the beginning with Cap and Thor when they combine the hammer like in the first movie (though this time on purpose)
One Strip! One Strip! The second one is my problem, though. It makes the Avengers seem so badass that, again, there's no threat, conflict, or tension.
My various fanfics. They changed it to Tony because Whedon wanted to use Ultron and Pym isn't an Avenger in this continuity. The whole point of Ultron was that he's a a threat created by the Avengers, so they pawned his creation off on someone else.

A lot of people didn't like Ultron's snarkiness because he was different from the comic Ultron, whose mind was based off of Hank Pym's
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
