Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It's from the international trailer. Apparently Bucky's expression is funny to some folks.
I didn't know Civil War already won an Oscar. Just like all the other Marvel movies.

I've seen plenty of fanboys claim that critics were being payed off to give certain review scores whenever an unfavorable score is given to a film they either like or dislike. It happened when Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice started getting low critical reception, and now it''s happening with X-Men: Apocalypse.
From what I read of the reviews: most of the characters (Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Psyloche) get little or no development, those that do aren't particularly well characterized, the main villain is uninteresting, and the whole thing just doesn't hold together well.

So a few pages back (I can't remember where unfortunately) I came up with the theory that Howard Stark purposely set up the incident at the beginning of Ant Man in order to both test Hank Pym's loyalties, and get the Pym Particles out of the hands of Hydra.
Most thought it was plausible based off the thing with hiding the true Arc Reactor in that display. However, post Civil War I now have doubts.
Some slight Spoilers for Civil War (nothing specific, but still):
There's a two year gap between the falling out with Pym and Howard's death. While it's possible that Hank cut him off so thoroughly that Howard never got a chance to explain himself (as I theorized he'd planned to do eventually), I find it strange that between Hank's departure from Shield in 1989 and Howard's death in 1991, Howard did nothing to try and fix things. The second point is what Howard was apparently doing before he died, which somewhat contradicts a revelation he had in Agent Carter.
These two things not only make me question my theory, but question if Howard really did know about the Hydra infiltration like we thought.
One Strip! One Strip!
Well, I suppose he was more sorry that he kept it a secret from Peggy. In the end, he did let her destroy it. But like I said, with what I saw in the movie, there's something fishy going on, and I'm wondering if that was really the last vial of Steve's blood or not.
One Strip! One Strip!
Oh yeah. You're right. Then I guess he must have kept some notes or something.
One Strip! One Strip!Did anyone wish for some old bad guy cameos on the Raft? Hammer or Batroc or something, even just a smashed-up room that said "Abomination". It was one of those scenes that made you realize just how... empty the MCU is.
My various fanfics.![]()
I did too. Maybe even a completely new villain as a Sequel Hook in there.

I thought her first appearance in the comics was gazing at infidel meat? (Her words, not mine)
