Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

it's that time of the year again... rank the MCU movies! Based on personal opinion of course.
- Captain America: Civil War
- Captain America: The Winter Solider
- The Avengers
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Iron Man
- Ant-Man
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- The Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Thor
- Iron Man 3
- Thor: The Dark World
- The Incredible Hulk
- Iron Man 2
My rankings:
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. Captain America: Civil War
3. The Avengers
4. The Incredible Hulk (yes, I think it's underrated; it's not amazing, but I watched it and liked it more than lots of the ohers)
5. Iron Man
6. Iron Man 3
7. Captain America: The First Avenger
8. Thor
9. Guardians of the Galaxy
10. Avengers: Age of Ultron
11. Ant-Man
12. Thor: The Dark World
13. Iron Man 2

My ranking would be
1. The Avengers
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
3. Captain America: Civil War
4. Iron Man 3
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
6. Avengers: Age of Ultron
7. Ant-Man
8. Iron Man
9. Captain America: The First Avenger
10. Thor
11. Thor: The Dark World
12. Iron Man 2
13. The Incredible Hulk
Sing the song of sixpence that goes burn the witch, we know where you liveWith the caveat that I haven't really seen many of the movies, my ranking would be:
1. Civil War/Winter Soldier
2. Iron Man
5. Avengers
7. The First Avenger
8. Age of Ultron
From what I've heard I'd probably like both Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. I have issues with the way Marvel portrays Odin and Loki, who are both very different in the original tales, so I'm probably never going to watch the Thor movies. And I've heard so many mixed things about the Iron Man Sequels, I'm not sure where they would end up.

Non Indicative UsernameOut of context, that's a good shirt.
In context...
Not at all. But, that was an unofficial shirt, and our team did officially do something much better
.
MCU Pepper forming the A-Force, in part to establish a superteam which isn't ruined by the ego of her ex, is a plot I'd like to see.
Currently I'd have the cast be... Extremis!Pepper funding it, Sif as field commander, with Gamora, Scarlet Witch and Wasp.
I know that's a team of only five, but I would like the character focus to be tight so none of these women get pushed to characterisation obscurity. (Like Rhodey). Plus, I like people with flashy super powers.
Damn, that's a pretty white cast. Damnit, give us Captain Marvel already so I can put Monica on this team!

Again, that wasn't the fans that came up with that shirt. And if you don't know what it's a take off of, it's a good shirt design.
Monica's better than any of them, but you know she's not going to be the starring Captain Marvel, right? It was going to be a Carol Danvers movie.

The writers talk a bit about Infinity War
. CW spoilers at the link, so be warned.
And hopefully they can flip in some cases - I know a few right off the top of my head, that have a small part [in one movie] and a bigger part [in the other movie]." The people in the background in one, might come to the foreground in the other. There are moments where every damn person who's still alive will be in the same room and [those scenes] are just a nightmare to write, because Marvel being very good about hiring very good actors, it's like the 15th person there has two Oscars. So, yeah, it's crazy
"Every damn person who's still alive." Hmm, could we expect some deaths?
