Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I've been waiting for Betty to reappear for ages, but since we can't get a Hulk movie it's probably never going to happen.
Maybe if they made a tv show - I thought a She-Hulk show would be pretty good.
That sounds like countering one mistake with another one. Just like how Iron Man 3 was intent on being as removed from the universe as a whole as it could manage as an overreaction to Iron Man 2's criticisms, it's simply too late to just invalidate what they've already done. The way they handled it had loads of mistakes, yes, but now it's out there and because of the way films are disseminated and received retcons like that tend to be more weighty there than they would be in comics.
Trying to invalidate it as "just a fling" now would be retroactively claiming parts of Thor's character arc in the last two movies weren't actually real, psyche! And that's not good writing.

I rather like that about the movie so I don't really see it as a big mistake.
But if they can't handwave Jane away then I dunno. "Jane died on her way back home," maybe.
More seriously, there's any number of ways Jane could be shuffled away. In fact, Civil War has a scene where it's implied that the Avengers have no idea where Thor is or why he hasn't come back yet. It's been a year. Maybe Jane got sick of being jerked around (since this would be the second time Thor professed his devotion and then disappeared for long periods of time without contacting her) and moved on.

- Betty: Getting away from those boys was the best decision of our lives.
- Jane: You said it. I'm so tired of secrets and super-battles.
- Betty: Yeah. Their world is crazy and I'm tired of being part of it.
- Jane: Right? SO crazy.
- Betty: By the way, I'm a Hulk.
- Jane: What.
- Betty: I thought you should probably know.
- Jane: That's okay, I'm the new Thor.
- Betty: ...
- Jane: ...
- Betty: Boys, amirite?
Pepper flying by in her Rescue armor. "You said it!"
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.MJ hasn't, but there's Spider-Gwen.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Speaking of superhero girlfriends, who's Doctor Strange's love interest? I know Rachel Mc Adam's is probably gonna play his movie interest, but what about in the comics?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

They can just do what they should have done in the second movie: Explain that what happened in Thor 1 was a passionate, wild, one-time fling that happened 6 years ago instead of trying to push it as a destined star-crossed romance.
