Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think what I always expected, that Infinity War Par 1 will be about tying up loose ends from Civil war (those who have seen the movie know what I mean), and Part 2 will be about the actual battle with Thanos.
Concerning Doctor Strange, I think Marvel should stick to their guns because no matter what they do, it will only lead to more complains. And don't expect any reshoots. I think we can expect that most of the scenes of the Ancient One are with Benedict Cumberbatch, and he will be busy shooting Sherlock for the rest of the year. There is no way that they can make any big changes to the movie now, especially since all the CGI work still has to be done.

They've been adamant from the beginning that they're more or less separate movies, so I imagine the reason they're changing the name is to get rid of the "Part 1" and "Part 2" subtitles.
The person I've seen saying that is Devin Faraci, who has an extremely spotty track record. I don't doubt that Thanos will have a big role, but I cannot imagine them making an Avengers movie that's actually Thanos: The Movie. Unless that's why they're retitling it.

Devin dislikes the MCU's Thanos. He said previously Thanos has no credibility to be considered a threat. That Thanos is a waist. Anything about Thanos DD or IF don't always believe him because his biases get in the way. He hated DD season 1 cuz it wasn't like the new DD. He spread a whole bunch of assumptions about IF in trouble cuz he thought Marvel wouldnt embrace mysticism, yet once season 2 of DD did he shut up. I already said Thanos. That's it. Everything else he writes is good.

Considering the writers involved, I think we can trust that Thanos will at the very least serve the story. I know that characters like Pierce and Zemo are not as flashy as for example the Red Scull, but I have no problems with the way any of those characters are written. In fact, I consider Hydra as a whole the best villain in the MCU (followed by Loki, naturally).

Well, I don't think IW 1 is going to be Thanos: The Movie either (though that would probably rock) I do think using the first film to set him up as a threat and give him some depth and saving his all-out assault on the Avengers for the second film would be a smart move.
Re: Faraci, I'm not a huge fan either. He seems like a bit of an arse and his track record is spotty, but I do think he is at times a very good writer. (It's a shame there are some spoilery things in it, but I think his Civil War review is great, for example). I do like the BMD community, as well as most of the other writers on there.
Sing the song of sixpence that goes burn the witch, we know where you liveNah, for me Thanos have to make a HUGE impact in part 1 because he have been so many time in that chair doing nothing while the stones slip from his finger that he is kind of a joke a this point, so let him unleash his power to the avengers
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"![]()
I hear this argument all the time, but he has basically had just about 5 minutes of screen time at this point. He hasn't had a chance to prove himself yet, he barely even qualifies as a character. I have faith that the Russo's will make him interesting and I'm pretty sure they can do that without having him completely overshadow everything else in IW Part 1.
Again I think that has to do with http://io9.gizmodo.com/how-to-raise-the-stakes-in-your-story-without-wrecking-1705643309
End Thor: Ragnarok with Thor and Hulk saving the day and reveling in their victory. Then as they're leaving Odin's treasure room, they hear a menacing "Gentlemen, I believe you have something that belongs to me."
Sounds of violence and screaming are heard and then Thanos steps over their unconscious bodies and walks off with the Tesseract.
End movie.

I feel like the GOTG are going to be either in the race in part one or a cavalry in part two.
