Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

[up]But BW was affiliated with the Avensgers before SW joined. She had HE on her side during her first appearance in 1964 while she was mainly an IM foe. 2 years later she joined the Avenegrs, recurring ever since. She had multiple titles dedicated to her.

SW was affiliated with X Men until a year later after 1964 when her and QS were added to the Avemegrs as support characters for only 2 years. Then 5 years later they went back to not just Anegers but Avenegrs spin offs. On off put in x men stuff

SW always made guest appearances and played secondary roles. Her role in Uncanny Avenegrs was the first to remain regular.

BW winning a poll like this, doesn't surprise me at all. And I've been arguing for a BW movie for years no, it'd be so cool if done well.

[up][up]I'm not sure where you're getting your info from but Scarlet Witch was a long serving member of the Avengers for many, many years. Some of it was in a spin-off like West Coast Avengers but she's by far one of the most consistent members. She is by no means just a guest star or recurring character.

According to Comicvine, Scarlet Witch is in 211 issues of the original Avengers series, while Black Widow is in 103. Wanda then has another 80 issues of the Busiek relaunched Avengers that ran until Avengers Disassembled, and 71 issues of West Coast Avengers.

BW was a series regular once she joined the Avenegrs for far more years with her own solos and superhero teams she lead. SW joined the Avenegrs 2 years prior to BW (still a villain) but wasn't a prominent member. Meaning she appeared here and there every so often in contrast to all the time like Captain America. BW first joined when QS saw an add for the Avemegrs in a newspaper. At the time BW worked for Russia. The two eventually fought. Then she detected for the Avenegrs.

Once again, I'm not sure where you're getting this info. As I just provided numbers to show, Scarlet Witch has much longer ties to the team than Black Widow does.

I still think that Black Widow would be the ideal lead for a James Bond style spy movie. IT is one genre the MCU hasn't really covered yet, and she would be perfect for such a story.

When Black Widow gets her own movie, I want it to have some seriously raw action. Like, hopefully almost The Raid level, but Ong-Bak will do. evil grin

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.

[up][up]maybe, it depend of what is her enemy, I think A.I.M will better for where because otherwise is just a spy movie with marvel atach to it.

I don't know who this Michael B. Jordon is, but Michael B. Jordan would be a good choice.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

So president Ellis named Thunderbolt Ross Secretary Ross because of his experience with the Hulk and Abomination ?

He's either very naive or a massive hypocrite.

Either way I love these news outlet. Marvel is really stepping up with marketing.

[up][up][up][up]Wait, you mean they didn't cut the attack on Lagos from the movie?tongue

Looking at the news ticker:

  • Ha there are two competing Biopics about Trevor Slattery.

  • Culver University finally got a new library to replace the one destroyed by the Hulk. It took 8 years to fix the damn library??

  • Vistacorp (the shady company Ant-Man used to work for and then robbed) is being indicted.

  • Bruce Banner is "reportedly still missing." Did the Avengers not do a press conference or something about what happened?

  • A mention of the ATCU. Is this the first time something movie related has referenced Agents of SHIELD?

  • Jackson Norris, the documentary filmmaker from All Hail The King!

  • Previously unseen documents belonging to Professor Erskine were found. Foreshadowing?

Phylla and Moondragon please? Surprised they're not in GOTG 2. Alternatively even if they don't wanna make Steve/Bucky a thing maybe they can pair Bucky with Sam or something. Neither of them have had proper female love interests in the films, they have great chemistry both IRL and in the movie apparently, and they're a decently popular ship on their own that would work as a good Beta Couple alongside Steve/Sharon. Plus both actors have played gay before.

Peter Dinklage.

[1] Looks like Marvel's Most Wanted is on shaky ground and Agent Carter is likely done for.
