Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

"The film stays very neutral in who is right and wrong, really the film frames it as a tragedy that our protagonists are too damaged to work this issue out. "
No, by the half of it Tony is already show in the wrong and everything just crumble around him, Cap was right and it show clearly.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"![]()
Not really. He was not in the wrong, he was just very aggresive and hot-headed at the way he approached the whole issue.
In reality, I think both Cap and Tony chose what they felt was best, but both have a conflict of interests; Cap has the whole Bucky thing and Tony is too busy falling in his self-loathing and making amends for what he did (and then caused). They aren't in the wrong, they just can't see thw full picture because of their personal feelings.
For example, Vision and Hawkeye seem to be much more clear and cold in their motivations than Tony and Cap. Vision thinks that it's only fair to be regulated, so people feel safer and they have someone to answer to (also preventing them of going rogue) and Hawkeye sincerely seems to believe that they were doing good, also thinking that now branding them as criminals for not bending over backwards for a potentially corrupt organization is really unfair.
Both sides have really good points, the only problems is that both of their leaders are emotionally compromised.
But the story lend toward Cap, the sokovia acord does nothing but screw him around and the more the movie go the more Tony look like a control freak who want to put the world in a bottle so nobody get hurt and murphy law hit him HARD, hell he got faster that Tony to the bad guy and only because Zemo pick him up to the right place.
How much? he is caught out of guard by crossbone which kick start everything but then everything he do is right(except kept that secret to Tony, that was shitty as hell)
Also, first that Senator in Bv S and now wakanda guy in this movie....jeez, being a resonable authority guy in comic book land really pay bad, dosent it?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"We talked a bit previously about the idea that Asgard paid for New York's reconstruction. Musing on it, I wish either Avengers or Thor The Dark World had actually brought this up. It would be fantastic for Thor's character arc.
- ODIN: There are many things you will need to understand as a king. Diplomacy is an essential skill for any ruler.
- THOR: Was this a test?
- ODIN: Not a test. A lesson. There will be times when you are king where one of your own, possibly even your son, has gone behind your back to start a war. When that time comes, you will have to know how to do what is right for both lands. How to make peace without compromising your sovereignty in the process.
- THOR: I may have been hasty in promising—
- ODIN: No. Despite the compromising position you were in, you have secured our prisoner and returned him to face justice in our court while turning a potential war into an alliance that will last beyond the memory of the day's unpleasantries. You will make a fine king.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I feel like the whole Asgard-Midgard connection has been underexplored, as well as Thor's character in general. A case of They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character that applies to the protagonist, even though Hemsworth's shown he can handle such material just fine.
Yeah. There's a lot of political stuff that could be fantastic.
- BLACK PANTHER: I don't recall inviting you to Wakanda. State your business.
- THOR: Why do you greet me with hostility? Asgard and Midgard share a strong alliance.
- BLACK PANTHER: Asgard and the United States share an alliance.
- THOR: I have fought for your world!
- BLACK PANTHER: Against a foe you brought to New York. The Americans may have been willing to sweep that under the rug, but they don't speak for the rest of the world and we are tired of the assumption that they do.

That'd require the writers having enough interest in Hawkeye to make a joke involving him.
But seriously, I kinda find regurgitated meme humor in fiction annoying unless it comes from certain characters. I'm amused when someone like Ms. Marvel makes a meme joke because she's the exact sort of person who'd think internet jokes are funny. I can't see Tony Stark doing so.
I found it funny that even the writers said (albeit tactfully) that the comic failed at making the issue fair and balanced and that it was something they worked hard to avoid in the adaptation.

That's because the films are general pop culture jokes, you get pop culture jokes from them, not old internet memes.
