Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There are expensive Avengers action figures. It gets mentioned in the first episode of Agents of SHIELD
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSamuel L. Jackson could very well exist in the MCU. Sort of like how James Bond is supposed to look like Hoagy Carmichael, who presumably still exists within that setting.
C. Robert Cargill talking about why the Ancient one is white.
Explained, that makes a lot of sense. I didn't think about the political issues going on over there right now.
I must have missed it.

Crow: There's a plot?If they were that dead-set on retaining the Orientalist trappings of the character a Middle Eastern or South Asian guru-type Ancient One would've been fine without looking too out of place, and without offending Chinese government weenies, while also avoiding Interchangeable Asian Cultures (since it's obvious to everyone that South Asians are a different "race" from East Asians).

André the Black Nerd at the Red (and Blue) Carpet Premiere of Captain America: Civil War
...How does he get to be so lucky? It's because of his You Tube cred, right?
Actually, I don't know if I could swallow being so close to celebrities. The closest I ever got to seeing a celebrity was seeing Martin Olson (Marceline's Dad) at a presentation on adults and comic books at the 2015 Miami Book Fair and even though I didn't talk to him, it felt so weird seeing him in real life.
And hey, I might be crazy...but that guy with the phone at the 1:13 mark...was that...Hideo Kojima?
I wonder how he'd feel about doing a licensed game for the MCU.
I mean, The Winter Soldier already had lots of butts, cyborgs, assassins in bondage gear, homoeroticism, live action archival footage, people going undercover, lengthy government conspiracies, a big tweest, tragic backstories, and cyberpunk themes.

Woah, that's an unexpected character.
I don't like them, but I am fond of his brother
