Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

ASM 2 is probably my favourite. It was the first time I felt like I was watching Spider-Man on the big screen rather than an interpretation of him.
Most of all I love how much it depicts Parker genuinely caring and putting time and effort into bettering the lives of his friends, family, enermies and fellow New Yorkers. It's what made his struggles and failures feel weighty, rather than previously where it just felt cosmically unfortunate.
The marketing has so far done a pretty good job of making it clear it's more than just a fist fight though so I wouldn't worry. In fact a lot of the reviews say it's a pretty slow burn to the fight, but that it's still incredibly entertaining between them.
So, that most recent clip we just saw. It's been speculated that that string of events is what convinced Team Stark that Bucky is beyond saving, but honestly, I think it should prove the opposite. Because he clearly was not fighting to kill. Think abut it: one metal fist or elbow to the throat would've killed Stark instantly, but he didn't. Yes, he fired that gun, but that could've been either an accident, or an assumption that if Stark was so willing to put his hand over the barrel like that, the glove must have been able to withstand a point-blank shot. Or Natasha; he carried her what looked like halfway across a big room, slammed her down onto a table, and gave her enough time to say something to him (a line which, contrary to most of Tumblr, I think alludes to the fact that this is the third time she's been close to death at his hands), all while his metal hand was around her throat. If he really wanted her dead, he could've crushed her throat right away, so I think he was planning on choking her unconscious and booking it; he seemed pretty determined to get out of wherever they were. And even once T'challa jumped in, there was a moment when Bucky punched him high in the chest with the metal hand. It was a perfect chance for a hit to the throat; why didn't he? Unless what he really wanted was to get away, but they tried to stop him and learned the hard way why HYDRA had such extreme containment measures for him. (oh holy shit, SCP Foundation vs Winter Soldier; why, brain, why!?)
Or maybe, once again, I'm full of shit; WMG'ing is a great hobby of mine
.
Are we likely going to get a Civil War spoiler thread and/or a separate Civil War thread like we did for The Force Awakens and Bv S?
Yeah. I remember hearing that Spider-Man and MJ are iconic like Superman and Lois; you CAN'T break them up, it just isn't done.
Last I checked, Superman was dating Wonder Woman. So.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.DC's new reboot is apparently taking the approach of everything happened, every single comic since 1937, all in the same continuity, no exceptions.
It's gonna be nuts.
Their exact words were "everything that's been published since Action Comics #1 up thru The New 52."
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Nope, Superman and his family went from their Earth to the new one and has been living there under assumed names(White) for a while. The relaunch hitting later this year pretty much has a Reign of the Supermen type story in the Man of Steel related books with pre-N52!Superman taking over as the main Superman(in Superman, Justice League etc), Lex taking over as the protector of Metropolis since "his" Superman is gone(he'll be mainly teaming with Superman in Action Comics), a young man in China gets the powers of Superman and sets out to be a hero(New Super-Man,) Supergirl gets her powers back(Supergirl), Lois gets N52!Superman related powers(Superwomam), Jon Kent/White becomes the new Superboy and teams up with Damian Wayne(Super Sons) and a guy calling himself Clark Kent shows up. Everything is happening on one Earth in the Multiverse unlike before.

Hey, it's not like the time we had multiple Spider people running around on Earth(or together in the multiverse), the time Quicksilver blamed being a dick to everyone on mind control, Wanda killing a bunch of her friends, Scott Lang dying, coming back, having his daughter killed and then her coming back or the time the Punisher was black.

We currently have a comic with Peter during his early years even though we already saw those years on top of all the other Spider-Man books. If things sell well they survive.
Edit: Kate Beaton(of Hark! A Vagrant fame)poked some fun at Cloak and Dagger.

I imagine the actual show costume will either be Civvie Spandex or Not Wearing Tights just because of the MCU's general approach towards pragmatic costumes. At most it'll probably be a cross shaped design on the shirt similar to Rin Tohsaka's shirt.
Probably just use the Ultimate look
, which retains the dagger icon on her chest without it being a cut out.
So basically exactly what Beaton was proposing.
They have adhesives for that, but the top part would still flap about without proper anchoring. Overall it's a costume that would likely be Fetish Retardant in real life.

I also liked the first one.
And I was okay with the parent plot in the first one because it was new ground.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
