Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That is interesting RE Scott's comment (unless they're lying to him and not telling him he's going to be fighting other Avengers).
RE Zemo's look, I like Bruhl but it is disappointing the same way F4antastic Doctor Doom's appearance is. I do like the details about him though. Sounds like we might be the take on Zemo as sort of anti-villainish/rejecting of his family's past.
RE the Ancient One. Yeah, although I thought the trailer was very cool, I definitely raised an eyebrow at the fact that Tilda Swinton looks like your stereotypical (Chinese) monk. It makes the whitewashing even worse.
We need to wait how they handle the ancient one. It is hard to judge just by looking at the trailer.
Btw: A little fun fact: I was for ages wondering how this actor with the name Bruhl was everyone was talking about, but since I didn't want to know too much about Zemo, I didn't really pay attention and never bothered to look it up...I just recently realized that the actor is Daniel Brühl! But apparently everyone "forgets" the Umlaut....
Daniel Bruhl looks like an average nerdy guy in this film, so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with. Beware the Unassuming Ones.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectNice little post which collected all the stuff which was released this week, including some Empire Covers I haven't seen before: https://wegeekgirls.com/2016/04/14/captain-america-civil-war-b-roll-footage-clips-ew-covers-stills-and-more/
Another review, very careful to stay spoiler-free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G00l-GGFmFk
It is kind of sad how many reviewers feel the need to add a "hey, I liked Bv S disclaimer"....
You do, otherwise you get the 'Disney paid off the critics' people. Ohhhh lawdy.

Those movies should be proof positive that Disney isn't paying anyone off.
And come on, Warner Brothers is plenty big enough to pay off critics as well if they wanted to, and that clearly didn't happen, so y'know what? The system works, in this case.
Or maybe Disney paid them MORE. Dun Dun Dun.

I've been reading a lot of fans talking about it on neo gaf as well and everyone that's seen it so far has absolutely loved it.
I saw many people call it better than Winter Soldier and the best MCU film thus far and others call it just a hair breath's away from being as good as the Winter Soldier.
Basically it's at least around as good as Winter Soldier.
BP and Spider were perfect and airport battle scene was one of the greatest action scenes of all time.
Is it too early to call the Captain America franchise the best superhero trilogy of all time? I mean, so far every single trilogy dropped the ball by the time the third movie rolled around. But Captain America went from good to great to great again...and it has an even better success rate if you count in the Avengers movie, since they are also part of his story line. Than this character went from a great to a milestone movie followed by an great/outstanding one followed by an okay one to peak (for now) with another great one. That is the best track record not just for any Superhero franchise, but for every franchise in general with the possible exception if Mission Impossible. Next to no one reaches the fifth movie without at least a stinker inbetween.

I love the first one...it made me invested in a character which I frankly hated before seeing this movie.
Somehow this one didn't register with me, because I always assumed that this would be the case. Marvel seems to have adjusted their approach to villains. Since the Russos see the Captain America movies and the upcoming Infinity war movies as part of one big story-arc I am even wondering if the villain wins this time around.

Disguised as Bucky clones?
