Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm watching the trailer for Stephan Strange, trying to figure out what decade his origin takes place (in the comics he was born in 1930 and had his accident in the fifties) it looks like they're dropping the "Really 85 years old" thing, which is a shame as it gave some authority to his supreme-ness and would make him almost a contemporary of Steve Rodgers and Bucky.
There's still a time skip of a decade or so I imagine, as Stephan has to build his sanctum I imagine.
Considering that the thing I was most excited for in terms of Doctor Strange is that it would diversify the MCU, if only in mythology, so I've realised that I'm disappointed Stephan is American, but I guess that plays into the whole "forsaking privilege to join a bigger fight" thing, though that would have still worked with an oxbridge Brit I feel.
Peak-humans can slow a helicopter down with their arms and a railing to hold onto as well as kick cars away. And we don't even know what Bucky took. It could've been a lesser version of what Steve took.
Besides that Bucky was bodying everyone's hits besides BP's.
i'd say Steve is stronger, more durable and potentially less skilled than Bucky.
But Bucky's metal arm is much stronger than Cap.
It's not like Tony lasted a long time in that clip. He partially has that hand doodad to thank for making it as far as he did.

Was he as strong as Loki though?
Loki was pretty much shrugging off his best moves and throwing Cap around like a rag doll. By the end of the fight, Cap was the one exhausted and breathing hard while Loki only surrendered because Iron Man showed up. Dude wasn't even hurt.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Judging by the trailers, a super-soldier can give fight to Iron Man.

He really didn't, though. Sharon only lasted as long as she did because Widow joined the fight. Once she was isolated he took out Sharon rather easily. And then Widow's big attempt at stopping him just gets her choked out.
It occurred to me: In one of the prior clips, when Steve asks Scott Lang if he knows what they're up against, Scott responds with "Psycho Assassins." Which makes me wonder if there's something to the 'Bucky clones or simulacra' idea.

I find it curious that a super-soldier is strong enough to give fight to Loki or Iron Man, but "peak humans" are hard of beating.
This shows that there isn't much difference between the physical strength of Loki and the physical strength of Agent 13.
