Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Bios for all the Civil War characters
.
Among other things they say Vision likes making himself look like the late Edwin Jarvis now.
Ryan Coogler will be co-writing Black Panther in addition to directing it
, which is good news. His writing on Creed and Fruitvale Station shows he knows how to develop characters well.
It also says they'll be shooting at the beginning of next year and have some more casting announcements this Summer.

Speaking of Creed, Tessa Thompson has been cast in Thor: Ragnarok
. It's said she's "some kind of superhero" and will appear in multiple films. She's also the new love interest for Thor, it seems.

She's also going to be his love interest, evidently.
The most obvious possibility is that she's playing Valkyrie or Tarene, and that if Thor does indeed die in this movie either of them will show up to help the Avengers in his stead
But I think there's going to be a twist on it, and that she'll be playing Amora - who acts as "kind of a superhero" in this movie, helping Thor and fighting against the forces of evil (and serves as a love interest in that Thor is drawn to her but ultimately decides to stay with Jane) but has a Heel–Face Turn at the end and shows up later with the Masters Of Evil. If that really is the case, I really hope they don't have her Heel Turn only be based off the fact that Thor rejects her. I hate that motivation for female villains.
Just had a thought- unless it's All There in the Manual, that detail about the Vision would seem to imply that at some points in Civil War (and in future films?) we will see him as an (aged up?) James D'Arcy.
Not sure how that will work since he and Bethany don't really look or sound at all alike. I think it only works now because of the handwave that the AI is based on Tony's recollection of Jarvis.
Agent Carter is administered by the film division, so out of the TV series it's the most likely to have such a crossover.
Anyway if they do adapt Amora I really hope they revamp her character significantly. Those kind of plots wouldn't fly in today's climate, most importantly that they're trite and a lot of people don't have patience for that kinda love drama.
More serious character thoughts: We know the movie's going to be pretty much a road trip so what if she's the MCU's version of Alflyse only not the new leader of the Dark Elves? Maybe a Captain Universe? If she's going to be in multiple films outside of Thor movies I could also see her as Monica. Of course there were apparently plans to have Valkyrie in T2...
Edit: Had it pointed out to me that there's apparently a character called Zephyr in one Thor book who was his girlfriend.

The Russos say Infinity War Part I and II isn't really a Part I and II
.
Co-screenwriter Stephen Mc Feely echoes that statement, saying "I will agree [the two movies are very different], and that was very important to all of us."
When asked how the two films will differ, Anthony Russo said it's an episodic continuation from their first Marvel film that's part of a broader "storytelling arc".
“For us there’s a through line from Winter Soldier, through Civil War, right to Infinity War,” said Russo. “In our mind, the storytelling arc moves that way.”
“There’s an overarching story that’s going to be told through all four films,” added Joe Russo. “And I think having the amount of characters we have in [Civil War] certainly prepares us to deal with probably triple the amount of characters in Infinity War.”
David Wenham
has been cast in Iron Fist as Harold Meachum the guy who kills Danny's parents.
Well, the ending of The Winter Soldier plants at the idea of people beginning to grow dissatisfied with the Avengers, with the politicians complaining to Black Widow about the lack of accountability and the collateral damage the heroes caused. Civil War then picks that up and Infinity War will likely deal with it as well, particularly if Zemo is involved once again.

Damn. I've long since stopped watching Agents Of SHIELD, but I was looking forward to Black Bolt and Medusa in the Inhumans movie.
Been a while since I was in this thread, but I just wanted to say:
Falcon looks HYPE AS FUCK.
