Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Peter Parker's origin story is that he had to indirectly get his uncle murdered to cure him of being a self-centered asshole. That's from the comic.
As is Peter threatening to knock someone's teeth out for ribbing him.
◊
And this.
◊
The world is probably lucky that Peter indirectly got his uncle killed actually.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTrue. My problem with ASM Peter is that he doesn't stop being one after his uncle gets killed. It's just one in a series of portrayals and stories that really soured me on the character, so I'm really hoping MCU Spidey can get me on board with him again.

It took ages for Peter to stop being a dick.
He was really bad at managing his life because life kept kicking him in the balls and Aunt May was a stiff breeze away from dying and social situations were to be solved by brooding away from them.
Also because Steve Ditko drew him really angry all the time.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers60's Peter was a real asshole sometimes, yeah. He could be petty, abrasive and broody, and he was really intense. ASM Peter's more sardonic and callous in comparison. Raimi Peter is a self-centered brooder who has trouble understanding other people's problems.
Though he's not as bad as, say, Reed Richards or Tony Stark.

A new still
◊. Wanda and Vision look like Tony walked in on them making out.
I'm more amused by Vision wearing clothes.

Which will be in a few days. I doubt that Marvel would lift the embargo that early if they weren't sure they had a winner on their hand. Also, the other "early screening" successes were always the reactions of fans, this time around we are talking mostly about critics. Which is why some of the reactions are very critical already.
But yeah, we won't know for sure until the proper reviews tickle in and then we have to wait again for Wo M. But by them time the movie is released in the US, I doubt that there will much of a change regarding either the critic or the audience reaction.

So anyone want to guess stingers? I think there'll be a Thunderbolts one if it isn't part of the plot in some way(with all the promotion of them now I could see a few movies with them(didn't Gunn want to do one?)) and a Strange one.
I also expect one of the first scenes in the movie to be a funeral and one of the last scenes to also be a funeral.

Which is honestly why I feel good about these. Sure, most of the reactions are from the geek/enthusiast sites, but the fact that some people have complaints but liked it regardless (like even the IGN guy) reassures me that I'll like it. Pure non-critic FAN reactions are more difficult to trust.
Ditto on the second one being for Strange.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMy guess is Strange, perhaps Got G. The other movies aren't that far ahead in production, plus, for Spider-man and Black Panther their presence in the movie is more than enough of a stinger.

My favorite review of ASM 2 regarding Peter's arrogance was that it was the story of a young man who through hard work and perseverance, manages to get his girlfriend murdered.
