Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That's my main point of contention.
In my mind, the appeal of Daredevil and the other Defenders shows is that they're very dark, low-key shows that deal with more mature and delicate themes like sexual abuse, domestic violence, etc. They bring something new to the table. I don't see any of that showing up in a Spider-Man movie. That's why the Defenders shows are better off in their own little pocket, living on the edge of the bigger MCU.

Chris Evans is thinking about entering politics.
I'd vote for him just for the lulz of having Captain America as the President of the United States.
It helps that he's a supporter of LGBT rights.

"Who's the President in 2025?"
"Chris Evans."
"Chris Evans?! The actor? Who's his Vice President, Ryan Reynolds??"
"Chris Evans."
"Chris Evans?! The actor? Who's his Vice President, Bucky??"
Fix'd.
Twist is that the spider robot is the true villain controlling him.
Eventually he'll have his head go back in time so he can uninvent the robot forever.
Later he'll retire to evenings singing in the Haunted Mansion chorus.

Since when would Walt Disney be the Token Good Teammate?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Well the other ones are genocidal dictators and a war monger. Walt is, at worst, a flawed businessman.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."But even then, Castro shot both spider-bot-Walt and the kid in the head afterwards. I doubt spider-bot-Walt would be very happy with teaming up with the guy.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryDo not make such baseless accusations against a entirely legitimate business man, pal. After all it's such a nice pair of legs you have, It would be a shame if you one day woke up with my boy Goofy smashing them with a comically oversized hammer.
We're watching you, boy.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
Anyways, just came in here to voice my excitement for the Doctor Strange trailer that's being released on Tuesday. It does sound like it's gonna be something special, especially since the team behind it are apparently huge fans of the source material, and have backgrounds in dark horror and fantasy stories.
Really, the only thing that gave me pause was the fact that it was first written by the two beyond bad writers that are Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, but from what it appears, it seems like the script in its current state was heavily rewritten by Jon Spaihts and C Robert Cargill, who are both extremely talented writers, with the latter having written several novels that deal with stuff like magic and the supernatural. While they have written their fair share of duds (The Darkest Hour and Sinister 2 respectively), those were apparently heavily modified and reshot from their original scripts. Hopefully, they have pulled it off for Doctor Strange.
Thoughts?

I'd love it if they mentioned the Kingpin at some point, even if he doesn't show up directly. Though it'd be a tricky balancing act if he does appear on screen because staying true to his Daredevil characterization would risk disturbing the general-age Spider-Man audience too much, while watering him down to avoid that would also piss off the fans who did get used to him on Daredevil.
