Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I was thinking, I wonder if Alfre Woodard's character is going to be connected to Spider-Man's appearance in Civil War.
She's supposed to be a New York City politician, and with the headquarters of the Avengers moved upstate, the only obvious connection to New York City is Spider-Man. So maybe she's part of the reason Spider-Man gets on Iron Man's radar, perhaps because she's one of the few people who definitively knows he's even a thing (early reports indicated that Spider-Man would start off being known as an urban legend).
Well, um, hold off on that speculation.
It doesn't give a name though, so... maybe?

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThat's disheartening.
That means that even if Luke Cage does make something out of it, it's still just another one of those "the films do the important things while the tv shows have to make due with them" situations that AOS is so familiar with.
But yes, if the film does still identify her character as Mariah Dillard by name (or even in the credits), it would still be a huge step forward.

The article speculates that it's likely (if the rumor is true) that she shot her scenes a long while back before even being cast in Luke Cage, so I doubt there's any intended malice.
It also wouldn't be the first case of You Look Familiar in the MCU.

It's the first case in a long while, (iirc last time was Sousa, who is at least separated from his bit-part doppleganger by like seventy years) and this is definitely the shortest interval. It's also between characters who are both likely to be noticed (or at least, noticed more than "nameless cop who can't believe there are aliens everywhere") since her character in Civil War appears to be a Small Role, Big Impact sort of thing.
It's possible if not likely that, should her character in Civil War goes unnamed, Luke Cage will just work her appearance in Civil War into Black Mariah's backstory.
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAYLEY ATWELL!!

Something just occurred to me: Agents of Shield just established their rules for time, which boiled down to "you can't change what happens either in the past or in the future". Which, I think is great, because I always get a headache when a show starts playing around with the timeline nilly willy (not to mention that it always causes the questions why characters go back to change certain things, but never bother with others). But what does this mean when the time stone turns up? Does it play by the same rules or is it so powerful because it hasn't have to?
That's pretty much the usual Marvel rules of time travel. You can't change stuff because you just create alternate timelines.
The Time Gem/Stone is mostly used for seeing in the future or slowing down/speeding up time in the comics with its more OP feats being rarely used. Even the wikia just says this:

Maybe it's Reality Is Unrealistic at play, but I think that kid looks too young to be Peter Parker 5 years ago when Iron Man 2 happened in-universe.
Next week is a big Marvel promotion on Jimmy Kimmel Live
.
Monday is Team Cap, Wednesday is Team Iron Man, and Tuesday is the Doctor Strange trailer premier.
Regarding either Iron Man or Cap showing in the new Spiderman movie, I believe it would be a better idea to include Daredevil instead. Not only it would be cheaper for Sony to get him in the movie, but also the hype that it would be the first crossover between the tv shows and the movies universe would really help the sales. Also, I think those two would bond really well, as they have so much in common, what with them being the only ones with secret identities, figthing crime more or less in the same style, and with Daredevil having expierence in it, he could be kind of a mentor to Spidey.
What do you guys think?

Peter and Matt have crossed over with so many that it's tradition
◊ to crossover with them at least once in each hero's career.
◊
Movie/TV crossovers are unlikely though.

When I think of Marvel characters who crossover a lot, Spidey obviously comes to mind first, but after that, I think it would be Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew.
Make mine Marvel.

Just the bald dean guy from Community, kinda like Danny Pudi/Abed as a random SHIELD tech in The Winter Soldier.
