Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The comics like to joke about it and Hela's past is even a long running sub plot created by Kieron Gillen back in Journey Into Mystery that survives to this day.
She's the grown up version of Kid!Loki's BFF/girlfriend Leah and explaining it more would just confuse non-comic readers.
I expect the movies to just have her be a evil asgardian.

Seriously, please stop. Half of those flaws aren't even flaws, they're just things Cinema Sins didn't pay attention to or made up for humor.
And you've wondered about it plenty before. Just because one group of people, a group preoccupied with making comedy videos, thought it suffered from hype backlash and trashed it harder doesn't make it any more flawed. This is not the first time this discussion has been had, and it's extremely annoying.

Let's see, that makes this... eight. Eight times.
That video is what, two years old now? And if according to Scott McCloud, one year in real life equals seven on the Internet
, then this is the equivalent of harping on the subject for FOURTEEN YEARS. LET. IT. GO.

Okay. Just thought enough time had passed that I could bring it up again. Anyways, new subject.
If there's one thing I learned from BVS, it's that even if you have an Oscar-winning screenwriter writing the script for your superhero movie, that doesn't automatically mean the movie is gonna be good. That makes me a bit more optimistic for Doctor Strange, considering how well Marvel usually is when it comes to the writing. Heck, they dropped the original two (really poor) screenwriters, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, in favor of Jon Spaihts and C Robert Cargill, with the latter two having been rewriting the script for quite some time. While Spaihts and Cargill have had their misfires (The Darkest Hour and Sinister 2 respectively), those were heavily altered from their original scripts. Hopefully, they have done well with Doctor Strange.
Your thoughts?
Jesus, I'm a genuine fan of the series but there are times to bring that vid up and time to not to. You can't use a Cinema Sins vid as a citation for the movie's quality, that series is pretty much what Zero Punctuation is to video games, although not as harsh.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing. The main problem with Cinema sins is that they keep complaining over stuff which would have been clear to them if they had actually paid attention to the movie they are watching instead of being busy jotting down notes. This tendency is especially prominent in the Winter Soldier vid, because it was not made from a place of love, but the desire to take an acclaimed movie down a peg. There is no point in bringing it up again and again. The vid was garbage two years ago (even for Cinema Sins), and it certainly hasn't become less riddled with nonsensical complains since then.
Considering that the goal was to make the movie honest trailer proof, there really isn't much to complain about. It's just nitpicking.
Concerning Doctor Strange, the writing team is the one thing which gives me pause about the movie. My prediction for it is "the messy plot will be rescued by top-notch acting and impressive visuals". And if Marvel is smart, they take a page out of Deadpool's advertising book and market it for woman. Just tell them that Benedict Cumberbatch will be in some sort of epic bromance in this movie, and half of the Sherlock community will watch it - if for nothing else than to point out that his bromance with Watson is more epic.

I prefered Honest trailer, they point out flaws or weird things in a series without sound mean, hell they enjoy mad max as everyone else and yet they point out the plot is pretty much "mario kart in hell" or that tom harley barely have presene in the movie, is not bad....just there.
with cinema it always feel the counting is first and everything else second, which make them sound like a douchebag
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"There are times in Cinema Sins vid, like Sin #77 in the Mad Max: Fury Road one, he calls something or someone out as a sin for not being properly explained, even though there is an explanation within the movie.
Age of Ultrons vid had it particularly bad, like on why Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were fighitng the Avengers in the begining.
That said, the vid did have a valid point about how it had little to no sense of tension, despite the stakes being raised really high.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.

If/When Hela appears she'll probably not be his kid. The movies have already made it clear that the Norse myths weren't accurate, so just say mortals were confused somewhere and thought they were related.
