Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Loki and Lorelei were together for a bit during the Simonson era.
Although mostly because Lorelei had been brainjacked by Amora into finding Loki the sexiest thing since sex as revenge for her spending her time pining over Thor instead of helping fight a demon army threatening to destroy all of existence.
And Loki rolled with it because swiggity swooty, I guess.
He eventually threw her out when she was tricked into drugging his drink as part of a plot by Malekith to pretend to be Balder so he could take the throne of Asgard and pretending Loki was Malekith so nobody would suspect a thing.
Norse gods. More like soap opera stars.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'd be deeply amused if in the next movie they had Sigyn appear, and Loki says something like "As You Know Thor, I've been married for centuries. I just wanted to bring it up for current plot reasons."
Watch the shippers explode with me, friends!

Oh boy, I would how Loki/Thor fangirls call her a slut and beg the writers to kill her....it would be glorious.
It'd be a hilarioius troll move, but the risk of subjecting some poor woman to horrendous abuse from the fangirls and the audience to a Romantic Plot Tumor might not be worth it.
I shouldn't have laughed at that. But I did. I am now a supervillain.

When it comes to romance in the MCU, Pepper/Tony and Peggy/Steve are still the best, even if the latter ended up not becoming a thing (though imo the layer of tragedy there definitely adds to it). Unsurprisingly they both originated in the best phase 1 films.
It's kind of weird to think about actually because the bar for romance in movies has definitely been raised in the last decade or so. Looking back to some of the movies in the 2000's, their romance is usually one of the weaker points.Having a bland mandatory love interest really just doesn't cut it anymore. You might as well not even have one by that point.
