Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, if that was the case Deadpool would be the 4th best Marvel Comic movie after Avengers, Ao U and Iron Man 3.
Specifically, I think Iron Man 3 and Winter Solider are two of the best films Marvel has ever made, and Guardians of the Galaxy is, for all its faults (and there are many), super-entertaining and visually engaging and I could watch it a thousand times.
Also, I feel like Jessica Jones is Phase 2, and seeing as it is hands-down the best-ever non-comic thing ever to bare the Marvel branding, Phase 2 could win on that alone.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Phase 1: Iron Man 1 and The First Avenger are both good, the rest is mediocre.
Phase 2: Winter Soldier is excellent, Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty decent, Ant Man is ok, Iron Man 3 is a huge mixed bag that is ultimately underwhelming, haven't seen the rest.
I also consider the Netflix shows (well, Daredevil and JJ) to be their own thing. They don't really have the same constraints put on them that the movies do, so they can explore much darker themes and flesh out their characters much more meticulously.

Detective Clemons shouldn't have died.
Besides that I am of the opinion that it's as close to perfect as it's possible to come. I have literally no other complaints about it.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. This isn't about a quality debate, it's just not reasonable to include the TV shows in my opinion.
I thought when you said "unbalanced" in the sense of the current conversation, not just in general, sorry.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I feel like bringing in the show's would unbalance things and besides, I'm not sure they even follow the same phase structure.
Wack'd is right though, JJ is pretty great and Daredevil only has its first season to stand on. That would still balance things more in favor of Phase 2 nonetheless.
The Blog The Art....I think Daredevil Season 2 is pretty good, honestly.
Like, Karen and Elektra and Frank Castle are all great, plus Charlie Cox still does a pretty good job as Daredevil. I liked that they expanded Brett Mahoney's character as well.
The only downside IMO is that Rosario Dawson is only in two episodes. Like seriously???

I find a lot of the praise for it to be really confusing so I guess we may have to agree to disagree. I said my piece in the thread and while I'm still reading the thread and reasons why people think it's great none of them really resonate for me. Or rather the bad/boring outweighs or overshadows the good.

The Blog The ArtWhat Swanpride said. To summarize my original post the first four episodes were an excellent neat little plot and after that they got lost trying to justify the rest of the material creating a slog to sit through, stringing together fight scene after fight scene and amazing little moment after amazing little moment.
It's seems almost everyone is acknowledging the exact same flaws but for some reason for sone it makes the season poor and for others it doesn't matter because apparently overall it's great or something to that effect.
The Blog The Art

Pretty much. Even the Avengers has fallen on my list.
