Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Is it just me, or are a handful of the guys in this game way more powerful than the others? Whatever happened to character balance?
Plus Cable's not in it. How could they replace him with Vision?!
List of MCU characters by total screentime
.
Poor Hawkeye, doesn't even have half an hour.
maybe but it get the point where it kills the moment if main chararters are making joke in a serious moment, it was bad in Ao U and I like superman vs batman for just having a good epic battle without the damn quiping
I think the marvel movies are mostly good about not undercutting the drama too much with humor.
No one cracked a joke when Quicksilver died, for example. No jokes in the scene where Scarlet Witch took revenge by ripping out Ultron's heart.
In the end, its a matter of taste, of course.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersMaking an MCU appearance list is kinda pointless when you have folks who are appearing in 45 minutes of new content a week for half a year, and other folks who get an hour and a half total for an entire year. Maybe if they separated movie and TV characters it's work better; as is, I find it hilarious Marvel's main moneymaker doesn't even crack the top 10.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.![]()
Except when moment before Ultron is mumbling a song and even before with the "in retrospective" which pretty much ruin any threating aura he have at all....which isn much considering he was barely there in the fight.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I think the main problem with some of the humor in the Whedon films was that it felt like scenes were written with the joke first, and the characterization derailed for the sake of it. Like "he's adopted" or Widow who's usually the eloquent snarker herself suddenly dropping in IQ for the sake of the "that's not a party" line.
In Ant-Man even if the jokes ran freely they usually made sense in context and didn't break the tension. Of course you have gags like the giant ant-dog but those were unintrusive and were presented in a way to avoid Mood Whiplash.

With antman it comes that it isnt a serious movie, not even for the lax standar of Marvel, is probably the most chararter drive of all and it come from someone with a very silly concept, so they just ramp up the humor and as I said, for the better
But with Ao U I think the jokes aren the problem but the lack of menance with the villian, Ultron is barely there in the conflict and his minion are as good as any Star wars droids(that means, not at all) with Thor 2 I cant barely remenber anything about Malekith and Thor fight that it isnt a damn joke.
So it depend much of the movie I guess.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"

Is it MCU or based on the comics?
