Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

His failing was not considering space science.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe Netflix series might have a better chance of being incorporated into the films on account of the fact that, unlike S.H.I.E.L.D, Marvel Studios actually wanted them to exist.
Joss has talked about how he got pulled off the Agents project by Marvel execs to go work on Age of Ultron, who were like, "Uh, Joss, you were supposed to be making movies, not a TV show."
EDIT: On an unrelated note, it will be interested once the Doctor Strange film comes out to have a new mental voice for the character. Right now, I'm using Doctor Orpheus.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Agent Carter doesn't even coexist with the Marvel One-Shot that served as its pilot. I highly doubt the films will ever reference it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Technically the movies already acknowledged the TV shows...in Ant-man, when it was said that there are people with all kinds of powers. It clarified that there is a lot of happening off-screen of the movies, even though it wasn't very specific. And so far, they didn't contradict anything.
Plus, it is not like, for example, a captain America movie would mention anything which happened in an Iron man or Thor movie.
Someone put that on the works page for Civil War but I deleted it. There was no source and google turned up nothing. The movie pages are a hot bed for people writing lies for some reason (Winter Soldier was really bad about this).
I don't think they'll explicitly contradict any stuff with HYDRA from the show, just not acknowledge it. I don't think any of the stuff about the secret Inhuman or HYDRA existing for thousand of years would be relevant to Civil War anyway.

I think (and hope) that the Agent Carter one shot is essentially a pilot movie.
In the one shot, Peggy is with a completely different group of sexist colleagues and is going nowhere until Howard contacts her about starting SHIELD. In the actual tv show, Peggy is respected by her colleagues at the end of the first season/throughout the second and so it would be a total 180 backwards if the one shot was still canon.
Also, it's more speculation, but there was some interesting discussion/speculation in the Agent Carter thread how the reference to Zodiac in the one shot could tie into a plotline set up at the end of the second season for the (possibly nonexistent) third season.

I'm right there with you.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat was a throwaway reference that wouldn't change at all if you watched Ant-Man without ever watching the shows.
What the AOS fans keep throwing out is stuff like Absorbing Man and Blizzard showing up as part of Zemo's squad or Quake appearing as part of Team Cap, and that's just never gonna happen.
This is what Gregg said about it:
"What’s kind of necessary for the show to work is that it is its own thing and it’s not dependent upon those crossovers. They’re just fun stuff that happens once in a while. They destroy the organization our show is named after and we have to deal with that! I’ll be interested to see how it evolves, that crossover stuff."

◊ from Marvel's tumblr. Quite a few that aren't in the show yet.

The Luke Cage logo looks really cool.

When we're done, there won't be anything left.
