Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

And White Tiger was already mentioned in Jessica Jones. She said something about a private investigator with White Tiger's real life name. (Not to mention the rights nightmare if this character debuts in a Sony movie...Sony will mostly stick to the characters they actually own, aside from borrowing some of the MCU characters once a while).

One thing I think comic fans don't grasp is that not every casting choice is gonna be for a prominent character from the comics. All the "She's White Tiger!" or "She's secretly some major Spider-Man character from the comics!" talk seems to be based on people thinking there's no way she'd be playing an original character or someone obscure like Michelle from the comics.
There were people arguing for months that Robert Redford would be the Red Skull because there's no way Marvel would waste a legendary actor on an obscure bit character like Alexander Pierce. There were people who seriously thought the Tag Along Kid from Iron Man 3 was gonna be revealed to be Nova at the end of the movie. There were even some who thought one of the Extremis soldiers would be the Wasp.
Sometimes actors end up playing canon foreigners or people who aren't that notable in the comics. It happens all the time.

And I mean it's not like they had the option of making up a country or something.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I've literally never heard of this Zendaya.
Half of me wants her to be Mary Jane just so the internet's collective head can explode (half from the outrage, half from the outrage at the outrage).

Being vaguely familiar with her that's not a bad cast. They'd have to dye her hair though.

Chill, they were just coming up with a possible alternative rationalization. Even if it's more than likely wrong, being snide isn't the best way to correct someone whose post was made in good faith.

Black Goliath is an interesting character to me. Mostly because he is a character which has never been treated well, and has an abs window. (A rare costume feature indeed)
Like, his own comic series only ran for five issues, and then he gets murdered in civil war. And it's clear a lot of people at MARVEL regrets this, because he gets three different post death appearances. Normon Osborne tries to resurrect? him to spite Hank Pym and try to hunt Pym down. Hank Pym uploads his mind into a computer, and Heracles spots him in the underworld gambelling for a resurrection (given the previous two examples it seems plausible he had a couple of false wins)
Actually, that would be cool, if in Thor Ragnorok we briefly see in Hel a bunch of dead MCU people gambling for a resurrection.
Tragically, they already have a perfectly good one for this exact purpose: the fictional island of Madripoor off the coast of South Asia, an entire nation of Bad Guy Bar.
Unfortunately, I think Fox has the rights to it, as it's almost always associated with X-Men characters, most notably Wolverine.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.My only problem with Sharon's outfit is why does she have batons? Usually, she just has a gun and she, you know, shoots people. I don't think I've ever seen Sharon with batons. Because now it just looks like "unpowered female fighter = batons," since three of them have batons now.

Kinda makes sense, actually. They're all SHIELD agents, right? It would make sense for SHIELD to have a standard-issue weapon or training.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Given that he's the most marketable person in the entire MCU short of maybe Loki, I'd say Tony Stark is a fantastic Pro-Reg cheerleader.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.No, they all lose. They all look like trigger-happy unreasonable idiots who cannot solve a dispute without trying to kill each other.
Thor must be watchin all of this from Asgard and face-palming so hard right now. And don't confuse marketability with in-universe credibility. And after he recklessly messed with forces that he had no comprehension of (without telling the others) and created a genocidal robot that nearly wiped out the world, Tony has very little of it left. And he certainly isn't fit to pass judgments on what the others need to do/accept.

There's literally nothing to indicate she's White Tiger. Like at all. People are just assuming that because White Tiger was in the Spider-Man cartoon.
