Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The most disturbing things I can conjecture from recent trailer:
- Rhodey fall from the sky after his Arc Reactor got busted. Why? Rhodey fall from the sky is disturbing by itself, since he (allegedly) fighting against Cap's side. And at least 2 members of Cap's side has serious issues with good guy fall from the sky and cannot do a thing about it. That's... not very good.
- From the trailer, it seems that War Machine falls from the sky because someone shoots his Arc Reactor. We can rule Hawkeye out, since it was not an arrow, most likely an energy gun or high-velocity shells.... The problem is, there's exactly one guy on Cap's side that established to be that good in shooting weapon. Feel a bit nauseous?
- On the last segments of trailer, when 2 sides clash with each other, we saw War Machine on Tony's side.... but the, color scheme, seems a bit wrong.... Why I thought the scheme is too similar with Crossbones, of all people?
- Also, (Ex?) Winter Soldier trying to kill Tony, in non-combat gear.... Did he attack Tony because he sides with Cap, or did his attack that caused the whole C Ivil War thing in the first place?
I actually think that Rhodey getting hit is some kind of accident. Ie Vision tried to use his power on someone who deflected and it ended up hitting Rhodey. I doubt that at this point the two teams are actually in a "kill the enemy" mind-set....but the conflict will get worse when the movie continues. When Tony is backhanding Steve the gloves are definitely off (or perhaps on in this case....)
Considering War Machine's "death", is that we still have no idea how Baron Zemo factors into the story.
I wouldn't rule out Baron Zemo intervening during the airport battle in an attempt to eliminate the Avengers while they are fighting each other. This turns the whole battle into a disaster for both teams, and War Machine is shot out of the sky during the retreat.
Someone pointed out that in the scene where Tony is screaming "No!!!" there's an image of Vision in his HUD.
It does look like Vision is the one who knocks out Rhodey (unless they just stitched together another unrelated shot, which is possible). The question is whether it's intentional because he's switching sides, or is an accident caused by Power Incontinence. He could also be controlled by someone.

There's behind the scenes clips of her vs him in a room in the airport IIRC and she has him on his knees with the red haze over him. There's also an interview with her actress where she pretty much says "My character is way stronger due to offscreen training but my part of the story is about the connection between me and Vision since we got our powers from the same Stone". People took that to mean they would bond over it so the movie could have the MCU required love sub plot but...

Funny enough IIRC, Wanda's magic was used to take over Vision and activate Ultron drones in the main comics during Disassembled which is how Vision ended up dying due to She-Hulk ripping him in half(along with Ant-Man dying to a exploding friend and Hawkeye taking out a ship). Disassembled was a bad story.
We're probably not getting movies for Vision and Scarlet Witch. They're people like Hawkeye who were really ensemble players for most of their history. They did have a mini-series together in the 80's, though.

Yeah, and I hear Olson hasn't even asked about the possibility.
I just feel like Wanda as a character deserves a film or three. Mostly because I fear she could too easily fall into obscurity and then go crazy and or serve as little more than a nessicary mother to Wiccan and Speedball.
Also, if she got her own film, she could explore street level occult stuff, which is not something the MCU has at the moment, and we could Introduce Ghost Rider as a supporting character (though I imagine everything I just described will instead go to Blade and Daughter)
I'd be interesting if we got a House of M-style story, but instead of Magneto and mutant stuff it's instead a world where Cap won Civil War or something and it goes horribly wrong.
And Wanda herself is the focus character, so instead of someone else figuring out that Scarlet Witch created the dystopia it's Wanda herself who realizes in the story's big plot twist that she's far more powerful than she ever thought, and that she somehow altered reality.
Or would that be too much like Flashpoint?

The Avengers were never in Wakanda.
Vision is an enemy to them. It's not any different than the other characters fighting one another.
