Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

We are pretty much booked for the next decade anyway. If we assume that our current main heroes retire (which is not a given, Chris Evans sounds pretty enthusiastic and if he isn't too expensive, Marvel might decide to do more Captain America movies), and if we assume that Phase 4 has at least as many movies as Phase 3 (which currently already has eleven movies in four years), the slate is pretty full already. Let's assume that they go for three movies each year and that each character who isn't Hulk gets a trilogy. And let's not forget that Spiderman movie have to happen even three years (meaning that there will be two of those alone in Phase 4, one in the first and one in the fourth year of it).
Working of those assumption there will be Spiderman 2 and 3, Got G Vol 3, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, Antman and the Wasp return (or Antman 3), Inhumans 2, Captain Marvel 2 - that's already eight movies, not counting the big Avengers movie as wrap-up, the eventuality of a Got G Vol 4, or a Black Widow movie. And ignoring the possibility that the F4 rights revert back, or that they might pick up other properties like Cloak and Dagger.
Meaning we are already pretty much booked to the end of 2023. Since Cassie was older than five in 2015, she will be at the very least a teenager when Phase 5 starts. When it ends she will be around 20

Bleeding Cool: Shang-Chi is not showing up in Iron Fist.
If he actually shows up(it's Bleeding Cool) I could see Will Yun Lee play him well.

Maybe, but I think the explanation is more simple: Chris Evans never had the "big success" so to speak and his one try as Superhero before the MCU was...unfortunate. And now he played the lead in what is widely considered the best Superhero movie in the MCU, and apparently Civil War is just as good. Must be fun if you are adored for the work you do for a change.

There are so many properties in the MCU right now. Like, if everything gets a trilogy, and an instalment each phase, and only three films a year, then if Phase 4 is only three years long like Phase 2 there wont be space for new properties.
Though I know Marvel has mentioned they'd consider putting out more films a year if they found that super hero films did well out of the summer.
Phase five sounds right for Young Avengers though.
Question: They discussed today at Collider with Black Panther and Captain Marvel need an origin story or not. Which made me wonder...does Black Panther actually have an origin story? I mean, yes, there is the whole story how his father was killed and he became king, but that is technically not his origin. His origin is being born. And Marvel can easily introduce him as prince of Wakanda and turn him into the king whenever they want.
Black Panther really doesn't need an origin story outside of his dad being killed and maybe flashbacks showing any relevant information.
I assumed part of the reason they were already introducing him in-costume before his own movie was so they didn't have to deal with that.
Captain Marvel on the other hand probably needs one unless they have her origin happen in another movie.
It would be pretty neat to see Amadeus Cho in the MCU, but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon - partly because of the film franchise's rather questionable treatment of Asian characters, but more practically, because Helen Cho in Age of Ultron looked way too young to have a son that age.
Also, Swanpride - he actually does have powers now, he recently became the Hulk!
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."They could always just change it so Helen Cho is his older sister or aunt in this version. Also, in general Hollywood has a history of casting very young looking women as older characters (to the extent that older actresses often complain about this), so her youthful face really doesn't preclude her from having a son.

The wiki says he was born in 2008.
Also, I have several ideas for Kid Loki. (if his origins are different from the comics.)
