Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He was a preexisting literary character (he even has his own page here) that depending on who you believe, Marvel either licensed and then lost the rights to, or was mistakenly assumed to be Public Domain.
Either way, they can't ever actually call him by his name in the comics, so they've had to use replacements like "Han" or "Zheng Zu". Or just not mention his name at all.

In other "wait, what?" news:
Sylvester Stallone was seen hanging around the set of
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.
Been reading through the posts from that Thor meta blog
Tuckerscreator posted and there's a lot of interesting stuff there. Didn't know that about the original ending of Thor 2. Damn, it would've been so much better.
Sure...here is a small list of characters I would like to see at one point. Keep in mind that I consider those characters interesting because of their respective power sets and sometimes their backstory, and not because I think that the stories written about them are particularly good.
Amadeus Cho - Who I find interesting because he actually has no powers at all but his mind.
Cloud 9 - A mutant who is able to control a cloud
Manifold - An Australian Aboriginal who is able to...break through reality? Either way he can bring whole teams from one place to another in seconds. That sounds really handy.
Rage - the ability is actually very meh (the usual: Very strong and a good fighter), but the backstory sounds very interesting because the guy is actually a 12 year old in an adult body.
Silverclaw - Can shift-change into different jungle animals.
Squirrel Girl - I guess I don't have to explain that one.
Striker - can control electricity, but what I actually might make the character worthwhile is the background of being trained to be attention-seeking by a mother who wanted him to become a famous actor.
Trauma - can see the worst fears of his enemy and then pretend to be this worst fear
Veil - Can turn herself into gas (an ability which will eventually kill her)

Read it too. It's so bizarre how much chopping, director switching, actor confusing, and reins pulling there had to be to arrive at an "okay" product.
Striker is neat.
He realizes he's gay and instantly decides to hold a press conference about it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI would love to see the Young avengers and Runaways teams grow up through out the MCU. But it's not clear to me when would be best to introduce them. With Spider-Man getting a movie, Kamala Khan an obvious choose for a movie, and Squirrel girl such a hot character at the moment, the MCU could be flooded with teen super heroes. (Though I guess squirrel girl would probably be introduced as a young adult, given that's what she is now in her most iconic of runs)
Which, isn't a bad thing, as it shows superpowers becoming dangerous common place; even minors have them now.
I guess Runaways would come first, as once Doctor Strange establishes the mystic side of the setting there's nothing stopping them getting a film (or tv series, which I would prefer as it would stop the time skips forcing the characters to grow up off screen)
Meanwhile for Young Avengers, stature needs a decade to grow up, Skrulls need to be introduced for Hulking's backstory to make sense and Wiccan and Speedball need to be probabilitied into existence after Vision and Wanda hook up.
So by the time the Young Avengers are viable, the Runaways and Spider-Man and Kamala might not be teens anymore.

You already have Cassie Lang, so there's a start.

If the Shang-Chi rumor is true I wonder if they'll have to change his father. I have no idea what the TV rights to Fu Manchu are like.
