Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I would prefer Cloak and Dagger on the big screen.
I don't think that the light daggers and the thing with the cloak will look convincing on a TV budget. Also, I simply like the idea that they do a literally "Cloak and Dagger" movie with them.
Marvel has considered both...2006 they were part of a movie deal with Paramount, and 2011 they considered a TV show on ABC. I think the movies would work better. They are a little bit too gritty for the squeaky clean ABC verse and a little bit too expensive for Netflix. In the movies, they could get away with pushing the envelope a little bit without making it outright r-rated.
Choosing between Netflix and movies does mean comprising either effects or tone.
The light daggers and the cloak are a pretty easy effect, but the hell dimension inside the cloak would have to be remained if they went to Netflix.
If you have them in the movies you get to cross them over with Stephan Strange though.
Do we know if Agents of Nothing and the Netflix series are going to possibly cross over at some point?
@higherbrainpattern: I don't like Frank Miller, but literally all he said was: (paraphrased) "Had nothing to do with this show, wasn't credited, don't really feel like watching it or BvS either."

I think Ghost Rider could probably get away with a really dark PG-13 movie depending on what they film, but I basically agree with Gaon that he stands in a really shitty in-between place of being too dark and oppressive for the mainstream MCU but too expensive for the gritty Netflix verse which he would be far better suited for.
Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider might be a problem, but I think they could do a decent Pragmatic Adaptation of ANGR without going over budget. Most of the conflict is internal or with other humans, and his Ghost Rider appearance is a lot more mechanical in appearance so it's less reliant on CG.
Right now I think the probable best idea would be working Ghost Rider into Doc Strange for a cameo or supporting character and see where we could go from there if the character is popular enough. Something like Doctor Strange accidentally crossing paths with Ghost Rider during some interdimensional travelling or somesuch.

Only if Nicolas Cage plays Ghost Rider again. He actually really does have the acting chops (watch The Croods if you don't believe me), he just needs to not dick around and take the role seriously.
