Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I didn't even get the point of the article since Marvel has been aligning many elements of their universe with the movies for a while now.
It's been a fandom Berserk Button for years.
@Lordof Lore there's a really cruel fat joke in there somewhere.
Nah, I can see why. It's been going on since forever but people seem to be annoyed about how broad the scope of it has gotten since the MCU began. Some changes I can see the reasoning behind but some of the things they've messed with to make it closer to the MCU has been kind of silly (Did we really need a stupid excuse for them to start calling Quake "Skye?")

That doesn't explain why Scarlet Witch wasn't in the early promo stuff.
My guess is that they don't want to make the promo art lopsided in Team Cap's favor, so they keep swapping out Sharon and Scarlet Witch.
Along that line though, I do wonder if part of the reason Black Widow ended up placed on Iron Man's side was partly so there would be at least one prominent female member on Team Iron Man. I'm not complaining of course, since there's a lot of interesting story potential for Captain America to have to fight against one of his closest allies from his last solo film.

Promo stuff tends to get put together very early so it's possible there were script changes between now and then. Or maybe even licensing stuff that's since been sorted.
Doing it to keep Cap's team from looking lopsided really doesn't work when Wanda is seen fighting alongside Cap in both of the trailers we've seen now, so it's not like it was a surprise they were saving.

That's actually great.
Hawkeye is at least slightly more competent than Ron, but I'll let that slide.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectClint just needs to disappear and(totally not Hawkeye in a new suit)Ronin to take his place.

(They'll probably save Echo/the first Ronin for Daredevil S4 or something)

They do both have the same unfortunate Memetic Loser status though.

Clearly Clint needs to learn monkey kung-fu.
That's because they might not even be together in the same shot. We don't even know if Sharon is present at the big airport fight or any of the other Team Cap stuff.

To nobody's surprise, still no R-rated MCU films anytime soon
.
Which I'm fine with tbh.
