Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The original confirmation tweet's gone now, but good to know they got someone with experience involved.

Man that whole arc was so good. Earth's Mightiest Heroes really is the unsung hero of modern marvel.
It is also only adaptation to ever portray Von Strucker with a semblance of respect, so kudos.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I don't think there was really any space for von Strucker as, say, Nick Fury's archenemy. Fury's a supporting character, and quite frankly, the MCU is busy enough as it is.
Oh God! Natural light!I'd be more okay with him not being in the MCU at all than the portrayal we got. Or, Hell, the easiest thing to do would be make him the Big Bad of Agents of SHIELD. That is where the character could shine, outplaying Coulson in the field of espionage. Which makes sense given Coulson seems to also get aspects of 616 Fury in the show. Strucker never really opposed Ultimate Fury like the version the MCU Fury is based on, his beef was always with the WWII vet Fury, and when they basically transplanted MCU Fury to the comics, Strucker had been dead for some time. Matter of fact, Doctor Whitehall is discount Strucker as it is.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Odd question, but who do you guys think has the rights to the U-Foes? They're Marvel's Psycho Rangers to the Fantastic Four, but at he same time they're not Fantastic Four villains and barely ever interact with the Four. If they do have rights to them, I think it would be cool for Marvel to self-parody the Four with the U-Foes should the rights to the FF stay with Fox.
@Strucker: MCU Strucker was almost literally a joke whose only contribution was introducing us to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and then dying once no longer necessary - which just feels like a waste given his introduction. HYDRA in general became an entire organization of chumps in Ultron, who seemed to only be competent before because nobody important was paying attention to them, which is a shame.
If he'd survived, he would've made a great villain if they ever actually make that Black Widow movie, for instance. I'm still holding out on the hope that his son in AOS might turn out to actually be him, having faked his death and done the de-aging thing to con everyone including his old allies.

nah, that would be to complicated, I know they are embracing comic book silliness but please let the overcomplicated explanation out.
And yes, Hydra is more a Tv show villian that anything else, winter soldier is the best we will got, if they made a Black widow movie, I want her facing A.I.M who look enough like Hydra but at the same time are diferent enought to allow more more variation around.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest/War Of Kings/Realm Of Kings/The Thanos Imperative for the cosmic side of the MCU. Switch Annihilus out for someone like the High Evolutionary, make the Shi'ar vs Inhumans and Kree conflict something else(maybe Inhumans vs Kree?), have Ultron come back in a different form, Doctor Strange can discover the Many Angled Ones(with Shuma-Gorath being the main one behind whoever their avatar is if they don't go for Lord Mar-Vell)and deal with one of their agents on Earth etc.

I'd push for Maestro as a Big Bad. I'd bring Ultron back once as a surprise twist Big Bad. I'd set things up for Secret Invasion just in case the rights ever reverted. I'd do Masters of Evil. I'd make AIM an overarching thing with MODOK at its head.
many Angled Ones. Yes. Especially if we cant get secret invasion. If anything comes close to "no, the heroes are the aliens" its "weird cancer zombie alien heroes".

IIRC Fox and Marvel actually share the Skrull rights. Fox of course has the famous characters like the Super Skrull but the race is free for Marvel to use.
You know what I want whoever is Cap after IW to deal with? The Serpent Society, Serpent Solutions
◊ or whatever they'll call themselves in the MCU. Have Diamondback
◊ join the good guys so we get a new female hero/anti-hero(Have a funny page
◊).
I won't even talk about the Thunderbolts because that looks like a safe lock for a MCU movie now.

Years ago, like right after the first avengers came out, I always thought the MCU should have ended after Thanos. Not because there wasn't anywhere left to go, but because of the risk of lowering quality.
Today, I think it depends on the rights of certain characters still owned by Fox. Kang the Conquerer and Galactus are 2 such characters, and both can easily be used as Greater-Scope Villain material.

Yeah, I used to think the same thing.
Anyway, these are all good ideas. I'd be all for Ultron coming back in a new form, since I feel they could have done more with him than they did with Age of Ultron. Plus, even with all his bodies destroyed, it's not that impossible to bring him back. I mean, we can have him use a back-up somewhere, or have some other villain recover one of his body and recover his memory from it. And the idea of a war between him and various factions would definitely be big.
If there wasn't a high likelihood Asgard is already gonna get fucked up by Thanos, I'd say Siege.
Nice to see even Marvel has a sense of humor about Hawkeye's Memetic Loser status.
I can't help but compare these concept pictures to video game concept art and thinking "This is kinda shitty looking". Also, where's Wanda? Widow is on the bottom left running to something(instead of fighting or doing other cool stuff like the men) but Wanda isn't even doing that.
Edit: JK Simmons haven't been approached for returning to Spider-Man but he's up for it if they want him.

NO. Ant-Man on Hawkeye's arrow or bust.
