Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That about sums it up. Infinity Gauntlet or no, Thanos is a force to be reckoned with.
Well, first he'd have to die before saying it.
At one point in the comics the idea was that Thanos couldn't directly act on Earth because it'd bring the entire collective wrath of the universe on him, so he tried to essentially find a loophole by having pawns (Zodiac and then the Badoon army) do all that for him.
Obviously that premise has since been abandoned, but they could go with something similar in the movies.
I think that's what they're doing too - if Thanos starts making any obvious moves for the Infinity Stones, that would definitely attract the wrong kind of attention, both from forces opposing his rise to power and potential rivals - thus he primarily works through intermediaries.

Oh God! Natural light!Man, who does the right for Uatu the Watcher belong to? Because I want a scene everyone is utterly screwed in their war against Thanos and no one can save them, Thanos is about to deliver the finishing blow...
And then everything stops. And the heroes find themselves facing Uatu The Watcher, who tells them he broke his oaths to interefere to warn them Thanos is going to win very soon if they don't do some shit. And then gives them some sort of clue or macguffin that gives them an edge against Thanos and puts them back on reality, but away from Thanos's wrath to give them a fighting chance. Just do this, basically.
And he's played by Stan Lee.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Thor sounds like Liquid Snake in that video and its weirding me out.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()

God damn it.
Perhaps they can do that with The One Above All (which would also serve as a amusing Mythology Gag, as The One Above All was once shown as basically being Jack Kirby). '

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm having an image of Thanos killing Thor by impaling him on Mjolnir's handle.
...That's actually kind of clever. Has that been done before?
Oh God! Natural light!@Lordof Lore: That's a weird-ass heart.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I read that post as Uatu literally appearing as Thanos is about to land a finishing blow on Cap or Iron Man or some other defeated Avenger to warn them that Thanos is about to win.
Everyone stops to stare in surprise and confusion at this sudden, entirely pointless appearance of the Watcher. And then Cap or Iron Man sucker-punches Thanos in the balls or something.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That's kind of what the big plan for taking out Thanos was in Infinity Gauntlet: Throw all the heroes at Thanos to make him not concentrate on the larger picture. Then have Silver Surfer glide in at extreme speed to grab the Gauntlet. Sadly Silver Surfer misses and Cap gets his neck broken by Thanos backhanding him while powering up to stop all future attacks on him.

Thanos without the Gauntlet pretty much belongs to the same weight class as guys like Richard Rider, Silver Surfer, Mar-Vell(at least the Lord version but the old one could still take down Thanos one on one), Adam Warlock/Magus etc. The so called Herald class which pretty much means they can take down a planet or at least everyone on it if given time. The Annihilators were founded to deal with threats of that class that threatened the galaxy.
Thanos has in the past killed everyone on the homeworld of the Universal Church Of Truth(Sacrosanct)apart from Gamora and the other Guardians there while naked and mad with anger since he was alive and away from his Mistress again.
(Thanos is often compared to Darkseid of DC fame but he's still weaker than him btw)
Of the MCU!Avengers only a really angry Hulk and Thor would really stand a chance if Thanos is having his power level dropped like all other characters thus far.
