Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Not counting the one-shots, we have two examples so far: The actor of Sousa was originally a police officer during the battle of New York, and the actress of Meredith Quill was originally a Captain America fan who got an autograph from him.
He is actually the reason why I am against actor recycling, because until they specifically mentioned that he used to be on the council, I was unsure if that was a nice little link they put into the show or just another case of them using the same actor in different roles. It's confusing.

There's a scene description btw. Spoilers obviously:
Something bad has gone down. Cap and Falcon were involved. It did not go well. They have handed over their vibranium shield and flying apparatus before being allowed access to this place. The pair look like they’re being sent to the principal’s office.
“You guys want to take a seat?” Widow says. “And try not to break anything while we fix this.”
Stark, who hasn’t yet had his beat-down, is on his cell phone with U.S. Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) as Cap and Falcon step into the nerve center of the intelligence office. “No, Romania was not sanctioned by the accords … Col. Rhodes is supervising clean-up … Yes, there will be consequences …” Stark looks irritated, tired. “Obviously, you can quote me on that. I just said it.”
He hangs up, and beholds his Avengers.
“Consequences?” Cap says.
“Secretary Ross wanted you both prosecuted,” Iron Man answers. “I had to give him something.”
“I’m not getting that shield back, am I?” Cap says.
Black Widow walks ahead, joining Stark. “Technically it belongs to the government. Wings, too,” she says.
“That’s cold,” Falcon says.
Stark spins on his heel as the two walk away with T’Challa. He flashes a tight, unpleasant smile. “Warmer than jail!” he says.

I think the biggest potential of "Ascended extra" is for Abby Ryder Fortson / Cassie Lang.
If the Marvel Cinematic Universe still remains in the 2026, and don't change the actress, then they could make a movie (or TV Serie) of the Young Avengers. (With Abby Ryder as Stature.)

Some things I wanted to ask:
1) Was Doctor Strange always American? Because I kinda pictured him as being British. (And no, it's not because of Benedict.)
2) Peter Capaldi as the Grandmaster. Yay or nay?
He could be a Brit in America for this version.
Everything I've heard about Civil War is not just exciting, but incredibly intriguing. I am liking that there's no universal audience consensus about who is 'right'. For a film like this, that's extremely necessary. I look forward to all the slap fighting lively debates that are sure to follow.
I wonder if Tony's 'It wasn't worth it' line will appear in a different context.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI kinda hope Strange is British because while Cumberbatch is an amazing actor, his attempt at an American accent in Black Mass was hilarious.
So according to the article, the main reason Widow sides against Cap is Bucky. She 100 percent thinks that he's too far gone and too dangerous, so she agrees with the side that thinks he needs to be taken down.
It's interesting because I'd never considered that but it actually makes complete sense to me as a motivation for her.
Well, considering the last time they met, it isn't really a bad reason to be suspicious of him, from her perspective.
And this does seem to be what it boils down to: perspective. Steve knows Bucky while no one else really does. Can you blame everyone else for only seeing a dangerous, probably unstable killer on the run from the law? There's a bit of myopia going on on both sides.
Shades of Gray.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectRemember the days before The Winter Soldier premiered when the Clint/Tasha shippers were declaring war because the movie surely would have Widow and Bucky date and now nobody cares.
Thought Cumberbatch as he normally looks was too Gonk for the Strange role, but the mustache and beard do actually make quite a difference.

Yeah, Shaun Toub was Yinsen, not Stanley Tucci.
