Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

She doesn't need to be green. Her being green was a relatively recent development in the grand scheme of things. She looked like a normal person for much of her history
◊.
Ming was given green skin in the Defenders of the Earth cartoon
◊. Mandarin in the Fox Iron Man cartoon
◊. Prince Xizor is just awful.
Also I just noticed by listing these that they're all also reptilan. Huh.
@Swanpride: She's not actually a bug though. You're thinking of Bug who is a bug. Mantis is part plant. Although I'm not sure if she actually conducts photosynthesis. But she has antenna. Truly she is an enigma.
Like a chameleon?
A bug tree chameleon person.
Explain yourself, Mantis
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn the comic, she was probably named for the martial art that she does not explicitly practice.
It was also, oddly, her only given name.
Although she has used the pseudonyms Willow, Lorelei and "Mandy Celestine" at various points.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnyone else often refer to Guardians of the Galaxy as "the best Howard the Duck movie ever", or is that just me?
Sort of seems weird to recreate that particular moment when there hasn't been an established "friendship"/relationship between DD and Punisher. Unless of course this isn't the scene where Punisher has DD tied up and tries to make DD shoot him to prevent him from sniping someone in order to prove s point.
The Blog The Artthat is a fucked up thing for friends to do to each other
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. It doesn't necessarily need to have the same gut punch behind it. They could just use it to help further the ideological conflict.
Oh God! Natural light!Don't know if any Frank anguish is going to be able to match Foggy yelling at a Matt who has had 11 kinds of shit beat out of him anyway.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers"I think I'm feeling this human emotion you call 'friendship.'"
"Friendship isn't an emotion fucknuts. Also, really weirds me out when you talk like that."
"The hooman empathies still elude me."
