Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well done, she can do something anyone can do with a axe or sword(or your hands if you're Cap). He's just hard wood it isn't an impossible to break material like Cap's shield or something. And it's not like Groot was out to kill her.
Hell, if someone threw a molotov at him he would be in a pickle until he can put it out and regenerate the lost wood.

Groot fights in several occasions later on, against several types of blaster fire and machine gun fire but none of them manages to damage his wood type as severely as Gamora.
Hell he blocks one goddamn maelstrom of fire in the climax with his branches (granted at the cost of obliterating his entire body), he seems pretty resilient.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."You can say that about everyone in the movie except Groot.
Hell, you can say that about half the Avengers. It's also a common poor argument people try to pin against Batman. Etc.

Honestly, I was kind of hoping to see Spider-Man.... even just a foot or something. He's not even on the teams list.
Looks like Black Panther is officially #Team Iron Man.

Crow: There's a plot?Looks pretty cool. It looks like they're trying to take notes from Star Wars and show as little as possible. Nice to see Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Ant Man.

This song needs more love.I'm eh on the prospect of MCU Spider-Man anyway so I'm happy as a clam they didn't try to make him the Spotlight-Stealing Squad in the TV spot as some were predicting.

I am mostly going from movie to movie at this point. Meaning I am more concerned about Civil War, Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy at this point. And I honestly care more about what will happen to Bucky and Steve (I am ridiculously invested in those two) than about the other characters which might or might not turn up in Civil War.
Have you see the moment of Bucky being attached to some sort of machine in the beginning of the Trailer? I really hope Hydra didn't get their hands on him again....

I don't know about that. The opening scene has her easily beat down Quill and nearly kill (or at least cripple) him in a fewseconds. She's about to liver the coup de gráce (via sword to the head) when Rocket flying-tackles her. She actually proceeds to fend off Groot and Rocket simultaneously while chasing Quill, manages to fight on even ground against Groot later on.
During that fight no one can really match her in straight combat until Rocket pulls out his BFG to level the playing field.
There's also the prison breakout, the fight against Nebula, the fight at Ronan's flagship...
