Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It might be neat to have a Planet Hulk crossover with Guardians.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Hulk stories are, fundamentally, about that dichotomy and about how close man is to beast. Making the Hulk the king of a planet fighting in Star War-esque wars would be...not that.
Except when they're about the Hulk being his own three-dimensional character and having a bunch of split personalities.
But like I said earlier, the less of that we see in the MCU, the better.

And what we really need is not AC/DC (though we always need AC/DC), but rather, in the climax, as Thor bids his farewell to his comrades solemnly, and prepares for his final showdown against Jormungandr (which he knows he likely won't survive), he rides off to battle and Sabaton's Twilight of the Thunder God
kicks in.
The screen then explodes with awesomeness.

But what about Banner?
That's my big problem with Planet Hulk: it's all Hulk. Banner is a prisoner inside the Hulk's mind, suppressed by the now-dominant Hulk identity.
This could happen in the comic because in the comic, the Hulk is rarely depicted as Banner's uncontrolled rage. Instead, he's basically a completely separate person who happens to be living in Banner's head and is frequently grumpy. The Hulk laughs, he cries, he has adventures on his own. Sometimes Banner and the Hulk get split from each other. And sometimes there are other personalities that pop up too, like mob enforcer Joe Fixit, the genocidal conqueror Maestro, or the civil, brilliant scientist Dr. Green.
Even the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk version of Hulk is considered a separate identity from the standard Hulk. He's the Worldbreaker persona: an intelligent and calculating leader who learns to master and harness his rage in a controlled fashion.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. When you said Marvel and Coke were doing something big, I immediately thought you meant cocaine.
I've been following Hollywood for too long.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The Red Hulk had a few good stories in him once he got over the hurdle that was his obnoxious introduction arc.
Which is to say, he was heavily flawed by both concept and execution but some writers have used him well.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Too many. I want to say it didn't happen until the mostly-atrocious Intelligencia arc started.
I say mostly because, while the whole thing was really stupid, there was one thing I did like: Doom breaking out of the Lotus-Eater Machine that all the world's greatest scientists were placed in. He was able to ascertain that their reality was artificial because, unlike the other scientists, he's also a sorcerer and could feel that the magic was wrong. This was a good use of the character.
And he was able to break everyone out by pissing off Banner until he Hulked out in the middle of his containment pod.
The good Red Hulk stories started after all that nonsense was resolved.

See, I don't want a World War Hulk. I think Hulk just being the king of a battle-planet as the new status quo is MUCH more interesting than all that being destroyed just because the Hulk can't be happy.
