Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

As Professor Farnsworth said, "You mustn't interfere with the past! Don't do anything that affects anything, unless it turns out you were supposed to do it, in which case for the love of God, don't not do it!"
No, their aren't! Squirrel Girl is the best!

I would only like to see Squirrel Girl show up if it's in Infinity War.
And then Thanos defeats her as effortlessly as he does anyone else, and gives a scathing speech to the effect of "What did you expect to accomplish? I am Thanos of Titan. I command all aspects of reality. You talk to squirrels."
And then she's never mentioned again.
Yeah, not a fan of Squirrel Girl.
If Khfan must get out of this thread for disliking Squirrel Girl, then I'll gladly be exiled alongside him.
Squirrel Girl is the living embodiment of a overused joke.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."See, if I want an easily-portrayed-as-obnoxious character who survives encounters way out of their league and exists in large part to poke fun at various comic/superhero tropes and make fun of the big players, I'll stick with Deadpool.
And since he's with Fox, I'll settle for Spider-Man.

Has anyone actually been reading the North/Henderson run?
It's legitimately funny.
Like, I'd be the first to agree that "Squirrel Girl shows up and defeats Big Bad" is a dumb gag. But that's not really what the character's been about for like a year now.
Read the current comics. You're missing some good shit.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.![]()

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE SQUIRREL GIRL, YOU MONSTERS!
Seriously, though, her current series isn't actually just made up of that running joke. We actually see how she defeats people (usually through The Power of Friendship) and she does struggle to defeat some people (like Doctor Doom right now). Also, it's hilarious, as it's written by the same person who does Dinosaur Comics.

Oh, man, the stuff where she's fighting Doom has been great, mostly because it's nice to see how she deals with someone who straight-up can't be reasoned with.
Dr. Doom: Then you shall die.
You put on a good show, Victor. Talking like a monster, acting monstrous, gluing purple fur on your armor, juggling, spinning plates, doing jazz hands constantly. It's an impressive, extremely confusing show.

oh wait huh we've already got one, how about that
Blackjack, maybe! I dunno if hookers are in the spirit of the thing.
I mean at the very least we should maybe call them sex workers instead.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I feel the MCU can do without Squirrel Girl. There's so many other more interesting characters to use.
