Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Scott Reynolds is writing Iron Fist.

On the one hand: Good, a writer which is already familiar with the Netflix shows will have an easier time to hit the right tone. On the other hand, though, Jessica Jones shined more on the meta level, the basic story telling was problematic. I mean, the show put two children into a cupboard which were never seen again!
In any case, Scott Reynolds didn't even write that episode, he wrote "WWJD?" which was one of the best ones.
Ageof Ultron was just meh to me. Neat effects, but the rest was just dull. The constant, endless jokes and quips just took me out of the film. Ultron was a chump who spent the movie getting slapped around worse than Loki did and the drone army at the end was a pathetic Curb-Stomp Battle the entire time. Honestly, the twins should've been the real villains in the film since they could actually be threatening.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Marvel has a tendency to try and make diversity match behind and in front of the camera.
This worries me.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
And as I said, the drones were pathetic. I'm pretty sure the Chitauri put up more of a fight. And the giant rock wasn't even treated like a big deal. The Avengers were joking the whole time and then Fury came in with a Deus Ex Helicarrier.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here? They were pretty much joking the whole time in the first Avengers.
These are quippy movies.
Which is pretty true to the comics.
Pretty much anyone that puts on a costume suddenly fancies themselves a stand-up comic.
Actually, Scarlet Witch hiding and Hawkeye giving her the talk is a good scene for the opposite. She's more powerful than many of the Avengers but she's not treating this like a joke.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe children left in the cupboard bothered me because that was apparently the same family Jessica followed Killgrave to later. The children were no-where seen, but even worse, the family itself didn't turn up again either, even though they were a bunch of witnesses which could have been used to help Hope's case.
Even the criticism that it really should have contained Thor saying 'Ultron. We would have words with thee"?
because it really should have.
It failed to pander to me specifically and that's terrible.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhy exactly does the MCU have to prioritize Hulk over Bruce? In fact, we've had Word of God for a long time saying that they don't want to do that
(as well as dislike of the idea from Ruffalo
for the same reason, but his say in it ultimately doesn't matter as much as Feige's).
Also keep in mind that most of the MCU plots are more or less original stories. Only Captain America gets outright adaptations, and even those are extremely loose.

I dont know about specter being evil or some failsafe of Thanos, it make the plot even more complicated that already is, also what it kickstart the whole plot is Wanda pushing Tony fears(the whole team dying because of him) which again, the movie gloss over
"And then the Vision scene comes along, and we find out that Tony was apparently not fudging the truth. He gets a second chance, he does exactly what he would've done if,"
....kind off, Bruce point out that is pretty much a gamble at best, since he is still dealing with Alien tech they dont have any idea it would work, Stark undetstand that and decide to do it anyway, the bad point there is that he does without their consent and yet, he manage to go away with it because it work.
In fact this should be a point of contention between the two in civil war, otherwise it make Tony just a dick.
"The Best scenes are by far the ones involving Vision, though. Especially his final talk with Ultron. That one is brilliant!"
Pretty much, and the reason is because the movie actually slow down for moments to let us see everything around, vision is pretty much the best part of the movie.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
