Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Okay imagine, if you will, a scenerio where Thor, Sif, and the Warriors Three are unable to beat the main threat and are defeated.
Thor ends up on a gladiator planet, Sakaar, as a gladiator. He meets and fights Hulk and they escape. Thor meets Hulk's gladiator friends: Miek, Hiroim, Korg, Brood, and Elloe, the Warbound. Hulk and Caiera have a fight-date and Caiera tells Hulk her background. Hulk, the Warbound, and Thor topple the Red King.
The Warbound and Hulk agree to help Thor with his Ragnarok problem and we get a Big Badass Battle Sequence involving Thor, Hulk, Odin, Sif, Caiera, Fandral, Korg, Hogun, Miek, Volstagg, Hiroim, Brood, Elloe, and both armies of Asgard and Sakaar working together. The movie ends with Thor dying to the Midgard Serpent, Odin dying to Fenrir, eveyone holding a funeral for the deceased, and Hulk going back to Sakaar to rule over it for the foreseeable future.

The problem with that scenario is that it introduces a ton of characters at once and, again, shoves in Planet Hulk into the Ragnarok. Even if you were to shove it in there, it would be impossible to actually set up all those characters and make us care about them, as well as set up Thor and the Ragnarok storyline at the same time without the run time going over three hours long. And I don't think any MCU film has gone past two hours.
There's really no point in introducing elements from Planet Hulk unless you actually just adapt Planet Hulk and they can't do that.

That sounds like a Planet Hulk sandwich with Thor bread.
Can we just leave the Planet Hulk stuff to the side? I'd rather them not do the story at all over them hyper-condensing it into another story's second act. And yes, it would have to be condensed to a rudiculous degree alongside pulling the focus entirely away from Thor.
Just give a quick run-down on who all the Warbound are when they're introduced to Thor and have each of them have quick and awesome scenes in the Big Badass Battle Sequence.
Keep it away from Thor, but I would definitely like to see a Planet Hulk movie at some point.
This song needs more love....or it could turn all of them into Ensemble Dark Horse's and make a ton of people who only watch the movies interested in the Planet Hulk storyline. Also, Thor would be a second-stringer to Hulk for 1/3 of the movie: the first 1/3 wouldn't even have Hulk and the final 1/3 would have Thor take precedence over Hulk.
I'm just saying, I'd MUCH rather see a compressed version of Planet Hulk than no Planet Hulk at all. Especially since Hulk would still be king of Sakaar at the end, opening up interactions between king-Hulk and the Warbound and the other MCU characters.
Speculating is fun. But honestly: I am more in a "Wait and see" mood. For now I want Marvel to deliver a Phase 3 which is even better than Phase 2 (which was already very good thanks to Winter Soldier and Got G), and I hope that they don't rush into some of the characters. I want to explore this generation of heroes first before delving into the next generation. And Cassie will be an adult in no time...in phase 5 she will already have an acceptable age for going all heroic.
The only thing I am really hoping for is that Marvel won't do a "fluent time-line" in the movies but instead allow heroes to either fade out or die with time, leaving room for the next generation.
i just want civil war and black panther to be good
of course it would be awesome if they were all amazing movies but realistically, i'm only expecting one great movie (which if i'm guessing will be civil war) and maybe two decent movies (gotg2 and hopefully black panther), with the rest varying between ok and underwhelming since that's been my opinion of the phase 1 and 2 slates as well.
I don't ever want to see World War Hulk. That storyline is the biggest Happy Ending Override I've ever seen the Hulk get, on top of requiring the movie-going audience to accept that the Hulk has any justification for conquering Earth.
Plus, you know, it doesn't feel nearly as good without Tony and the rest of the Illuminati actually doing anything to justify the Hulk attacking them.

He can eat and taste. I don't remember whether he poops or not.
