Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Joss Whedon basically created Agents of SHIELD to justify hiring all his friends and family and pissed off after the pilot.
I'm trying not to say that like it's a bad thing.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Joss has a co-creator credit with Jed and Tancharoen.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.According to here
, Joss created Agents of SHIELD but left after it became clear Marvel preferred he work on Avengers 2 instead.

The article was just kind of delusional in general. We are definitely not getting Spider-Woman in Captain Marvel and we sure as hell aren't getting a Wonder Man movie.
It's like he's just going "The movies should cram in as many heroes as possible" regardless of whether or not they make sense or would make the movie too crowded. I also assume a She-Hulk movie can't happen for the same reason a Hulk one can't.

I think would be fine, the issue is that universal gets first dibs on distributing any film marvel makes they intend to brand as a hulk movie.
So if she hulk is the protagonist, not Bruce, it might be okay.
Regardless there would be no issue at all with her getting a tv series.
If the deadpool movie works I'd be happy for a squirrel girl film. Though I think blade and Kamala khan are the next properties I'd like to see get a film.
It bugs me how few viable female characters there are to adapt.

Which makes me sad. Sort of. I don't actually want him to get his own movie if only because I don't think he can support one, but there's still a part of me that wants him to at least show up in the MCU, if only so that more people actually know he exists. I like the guy, and he was a mainstay Avenger for a while to boot, so he at least deserves more than he's getting right now. (And I also want him to show up just because he's almost guaranteed not to show up at all. Same reason a part of me wants D-Man to show up, actually.

Unless you are specifically saying that he shouldn't have created Agents of SHIELD.

I mean, if I somehow found myself in a position where an entity as big as Marvel wanted me to be one of their lead guys, I would totally create a project for the sole purpose of employing all my friends.
Hell, that's how Jim Henson operated towards the end of his career. He basically multitasked himself to death trying to employ everyone he knew. It's why late-80s Henson Company was doing so much.
But I realize how it could sound, like, y'know. Nepotism and cronyism. In fairness to both Whedon and Henson, they know a lot of really talented people, but never the less, I recognize that "he made a thing to give his friends jobs" sounds kinda crappy.
So when I say I'm trying not to say it like it's a bad thing, I really, genuinely mean that. It sounds bad, but I think it's great.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Apologies for my Whedon ranting. That and some of the things in Legend of Korra have a tendency to make me sound like a Tumblr SJW, and that's never a good look. In both cases, I tend to read the authors as being "South Park Republicans
" and that colors my views of them/understanding of character and narrative choices.
Do you think that's accurate to the movie that (based on the toy) (spoiler just in case) Bucky and/or Cap wears some kind of battle suit? Guessing not, but would be interesting.
Also, from one of the toys, looks like Falcon wearing more of his comic colors (lots of red) versus his look in the MCU, which oddly looks more like his Captain America costume.
Not sure if link will work, but the image here
◊.
Taking another look, seems like probably the same kind of non-canon armor thing done with other characters.

Not so much a comment about the Whedons' politics, more that Jed has more say on what happens in AOS than his brother for good or ill. Dude got made into a boogeyman for just about everything including Triplett's death when AOU came out, even though I don't think he has any say over the show anymore.
