Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Makes sense. There's no Hulk for him to counter as Red Hulk. Him as the Inspector Javert to the Avengers, patsy of the real Big Bad, makes a lot of sense.
I prefer Ross like that.
The thing that never sat right with me about the Red Hulk arc is the massive amounts of treason that Ross had to commit in order for it to come about. I like Ross better as a jingoist military extremist doing what he thinks is right for America's interests than a power-hungry traitor trying to put himself in the President's seat.

I really miss Talbot in the current season of Ao S. I get that there is really no room for him in the current arc, but I hope he is not gone for good.
While I am curious about Captain Marvel, I have the feeling that it is a good thing that she is a "late-comer" so to speak. Because, let's face it, currently the audience is still focussed on the six main avengers and the new team is more an extension of them than anything else. They haven't really been embraced yet - as characters, yes, but not as the new team. But after infinity war, there will be a lot of room to shine. Captain Marvel might even become the new leader of the Avengers, depending on who is still part of the team.
This might be a bit cynical of me, but with the first female lead only coming after twenty films, I highly doubt Marvel Studios is going to let a woman lead a team.

x4 I remember an interview from some time ago that Agent Carter would deal with darkforce in Season 2, so this isn't too surprising. This is just the first I've heard it explicitly described as a Doctor Strange tie-in.
....I wonder if we'll have an Ancient One cameo. Or if that's not feasible, maybe someone who was trained by the Ancient One decades prior to Stephen Strange.

Yeah, I've been wondering about Captain Marvel too. Especially since I don't know that many actresses so whatever they do will be a surprise for me.
I just wish they had sort of had her decided on earlier because I can see plenty of spaces where Carol could have fit in as a supporting role before eventually getting her own movie. First place I thought of was another friend Steve could've made in the 21st century and possible ally in Winter Soldier. One of Rhodey's co-workers since I think they're both in the Air Force. Having her just around as second in command would have been enough similar to what they did with Coulson for those first few movies.
Next place? Another associate at the Avengers base in Age of Ultron. Hell, could've been the Helicarrier's pilot.
The casting suspense for both Carol and Danny are killing me.
